Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 2025 UPDATE

Yeah I'm definitely interested in learning how this performs with different MVS hardware and/or bios combinations. At the moment I only have an MV1-FZ w/Unibios 3.1 operational and ready to quickly play. Not sure yet if I need or want to budget time into tinkering with some of my other MVS boards - been mostly just doing Neo Geo on MiSTer recently until this cart came in.

FWIW I'm testing on a MV1B CMVS that I borrowed, and occasionally with the huge board 1-slot that I have in my cab. Unibios on the CMVS, but stock bios on the 1-slot. These things are a little finicky it seems, and cleaning/voltages have fixed 95% of issues on receipt thankfully. The AES ones seem to have no issues, and the MVS occasionally do, which I'd guess is because AES don't have any variance in voltages, and MVS can be all over the place (especially on multi-slots).

They're tested here for 8ish hours, and then before sending them out I give them another quick test and run through a game off of each C rom for a minute or so just to make sure everything's still ship-shape.

I did have one where a wire came loose off of the CPLD, and I have a set back with some weird volume issues I've not experienced yet I'm going to look into tomorrow. But overall doing well so far, and I am working with the two people who have a current issue (including @9999 Damage ).

That being said, I am 1 cart away from caught up with paid spots. I'll be reaching out to the next 6 and going through those this week, maybe week and a half. 12 carts to go until everyone's been taken care of off the original list!

11 carts to go now. And I fixed the sound issue on one of the pair of return carts.

Think this was my best week? Monday to Monday I think I'll have shipped out 13.

Will be checking in *again* with the cart seller. I'm beginning to believe they don't actually have them and thought they could get them after being paid...

Upside: Chips are available, so if you have a donor cart, you're easily taken care of, and I'm going to start a separate BYOC (Bring Your Own Cart) thread for that when I'm done with these here. I also have a fair few PCBs leftover from donors of round 1 that I may be able to use to fill some of the waitlist orders.

I have some payment stragglers. Some who haven't replied at all, some who have told me one date and then disappeared, and a few who I have an understanding with (zero issue with these people), so I'm going to bump up the last two people on the list to the front and ask them for payment today.

This puts me at:

61 carts shipped

12 awaiting payment (payment has been requested from everyone)
1 on-hand completed but waiting to finish other work for that person. I forgot to PM them just yet but I missed a filter cap in my order and am going to re-order today.
1 paid not yet finished

And a handful made for myself/friends during the initial figuring things out stage.

So I'm officially accepting apologies from rude folks at this point (triply so if you had $0 on the line here, because your only intentions were to be pot stirrers). You can send me a 3 page hand-written essay on why being a jerk online sucks and how you'll mend your ways. I will in turn forgive you. Because we all make mistakes, but if you don't intend to learn from them then you'll never grow. The last I'll say on this is that the folks over on KLOV were decent and understanding, and it's sad to see that AP behaves so poorly in comparison.

Just a note that Vlad (row 12) might not be responding because he sold his spot to me.

I received my cart. Everything seems good; I ran through a handful of games with no issues (Blazing Star, Metal Slug 3/X, Pulstar, Money Puzzle Exchanger) but did run into a reboot loop with KOF98. I’m going to clean the pins/JAMMA edge and see if it was just a sketchy connection.

FWIW, I’m running Unibios 3.3 on an MV1F mobo.

Thanks @rewrite and everyone else for their hard work on this project.

This is a new one to me. Hmm.. Other issues have been easy enough to figure out what could cause them. I'll think on this in case it's not just dirty.

Make sure and get the cart slot cleaned really well and deoxit'ed and check voltages. That's solved all but two issues on shipped carts to date.

Could very well be a voltage thing. When I went to turn off the cab (KOF was the last game I tried) my voltmeter was reading around 4.7X.

Honestly not thinking it’s a cart issue based on the other games working fine

Not sure why but I somehow stopped getting notifications on this thread so... heres a post to make sure the watch is reenabled, I guess?

All right, we're really coming to the end here. I have to order a few flashroms myself for finishing these off. I have about 40 chips that just won't reprogram, and it looks like I'm going to be about 6 shy when all is said and done (the rest were extras). Not a big deal, they should get here around the time I finish what's been paid for.

What this *does* mean, is that I'm placing an order anyway, and for folks who have a v3 161 in 1 cart to ship me, I can start on those not too far from now. This thread keeps getting bumps with folks who need me to provide a cart, and at this point it's looking less and less likely by the day (and a chargeback more and more likely). So I'm starting a BYOC thread here, and asking for a show of hands of people who have their current 161 and want to Vortex it.

I was able to test all of the Real Bout games for about 20 minutes each. No issues to report at all.

I’ve spent a lot of time with these games on OG carts and they look and sound exactly the same here.

Good good. I had a few here (and one that shipped out unfortunately) that I had to reprogram the prog board cp1 and had used the file for AES instead of MVS and it made a very specific game list not work.

Wanted to make sure that didn't happen to you too!

Received the cart and have tried it out briefly. Amazing work! This is a truly amazing cart. I have the unibios v4, with the reset-to-menu patch, and it works perfectly. Many thanks for taking the time to build these.
