    NAC Splitfire: JAMMA streaming solution

are you using a real JAMMA cabinet or some sort of control box setup? If you are connecting it to a PVM or another video monitor, you might have 75 ohm termination on the sync signal which is dragging the level down low. JAMMA boards are not meant for this kind of termination.

    Nanao MS9-29 enhancement hacks

You could do that. The 31k is already a bit of a compromise though, and modifying the B+ voltage for the sake of 31k means that 24k might look a little off. However the theory of operation is fine to do something like you've described.

PSA: MS293X, faulty chassis can break the tube

Shrinking is risky business. That means a rise in high voltage, which is alarming because the conclusion is unpleasant.

PSA: MS293X, faulty chassis can break the tube

An operator in Kyoto showed me a video of one of his MS-2933 models showing some serious HV regulation issues. In the video, the screen would slowly contract to like 3/4 its size (from HV rising) and then snap back to what it should be. Then, after a bit, HV cutoff kicked in, and the screen...

    Nanao MS9-29 enhancement hacks

You can do it on any of them fundamentally, but sure enough it's possible the jumper name is different or gone. Ultimately you just want to isolate that neck pin from ground and instead substitute the G1 voltage.

    NAC Splitfire: JAMMA streaming solution

Let's check all of these things: 1) OSSC: Correct input? SCART vs. VGA plug, etc. 2) OSSC: Does it indicate a signal (H/V refresh rate, etc?) 3) OSSC: Confirm your output settings. You probably want Line2X or Line4X, it depends on the capture card. I have no experience with avermedia 4)...

Blast City monitor (MS-2931) not turning on

I have found ones that physically drop in in terms of curvature and mounting distance, but they had bonded and thoroughly incompatible yokes or different deflection angles that made using a Blast yoke impractical. To date I've never had a compromise-free "just worked" tube swap apart from an...

Blast City monitor (MS-2931) not turning on

in my experience JVC D27s are quite round and bulbous, and the tubes aren’t that great to begin with (low density, poor corner focus)

Hammy and Caius 's Nippon Kaihatsu

There is size, and through-hole is just a huge waste of time. Getting a factory to populate such a board with SMT parts is not so expensive and when people make large and complex designs, there are many steps of validation that make it so that having the factory produce the first PCBs and never...

Blast City monitor (MS-2931) not turning on

F701 is socketed (near the flyback) so if you take it out it disables the HV circuit. You can do this and determine in which neighborhood the problem lies and go from there.

    Deep clean for yoke

I can only comment on American cleaning products from experience, but maybe you can find similar ones. Simple Green is a good thing to use to scrub gently with a brush. If there is too much cigarette tar, then Super Clean (purple stuff) is very effective and will make it all drip off. Use...

Try without HV and then attacking the horizontal section if they still go into protection.

Blast City monitor (MS-2931) not turning on

The 2930 is extremely not rock solid. The HV circuit on the 2930 and 2931 is infamous for having explicit and unique failure modes. The things that make it this way seem to have virtually nothing to do with maintenance. Never mind the tube itself having a pretty bad rate of developing poor...

Blast City monitor (MS-2931) not turning on

Pop out the fuse F701 near the flyback, and this'll let it run without HV (the flyback). If it's "running" (that is, the relays click, and you can faintly hear the deflection on the yoke) then it's happy other than the HV. If that's the case then you know to work on the HV side which is isolated...

    (SOLVED) MS9 diagnosis help

Just as an aside: If you are using this in a Pop'n cabinet, unless you are playing the absolute oldest versions that run on DJ Main hardware, you might benefit from placing a 31k-capable monitor in there. A Sanwa 29E31s, Wells-Gardner D9200/D9800, Toshiba D29CR55, Nanao MS-2932/MS-2934 would all...

Let's get a shot of your chassis near the HOT and the S-capacitors. If the image is way too wide, and your corners have such jazzed up convergence... it's possible you have a Blast MS-293x yoke?! That tracks with the extra coil situation on the back of the yoke. If it's a Blast yoke, save it -...
