What's new
Thanks for the tips guys! I went ahead and changed ic9 and ic20 and everything checked out now with a Naomi 1 game. I also just changed 116 and 118 and my Naomi is happily back to working order WOOOHOOO. It’s not slow as piss and is loading now. Wish I had the skills back then before I sold my twin initial d 3 🥹

That must have taken some serious heat to remove with the heatsink still attached. :hilarious:

Nice. What tools did you use for taking it off? and how do you plan to do the reballing? I might be in the same situation but not sure how to do it so I'm watching closely

Nope! Lots of flux and air though , the hardest part was keeping everything from blowing away 😅

Hot air station; would not recommend if you’re not experienced

I just got solder balls in different sizes to see which fits best on the pads

0.7mm is the correct size I think but don't quote me on that.

Looks like you’re right ; bought a bunch of stencils and got them today. 0.76 fits almost good so I’m going slowly

Got it back on the board but maybe I didn’t get it seated all the way; the red led is blinking while the fans are trying to spin but can’t. They’re like shaking back and forth

Edit : looks like I shorted the 3.3v rail somehow as the wire from the pay is getting hot

Merged balls under the chip or the chip itself is shorted.
