MiSTer FPGA

Well - I sure think so - here is a pic of it. I first got the 32MB board - and the cores worked, but on NeoGeo I got some errors (for example, with MS3) about not enough memory. I got the 128MB expansion card - but same issue.

I have seen some video's where people have a small ram icon in the Mister menu (half or all the way full) - but I don't see that at all.. :(

I'm really new to this myself. I just knew the RAM is easy to install backwards.
 
Ok - figured it out... if you don't have the RAM icon - you are running an older version of the MiSTer binary... somehow I had used an older version when I created the SD card... once i used the latest - all good!

Anyone have a nice cab setup, Vewlix, 31k or Jamma up and running yet?

I think the IO board is not needed.. it seems you can use "Direct video" lagless mode with most cores using a simple HDMI to VGA converter: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=37304

Mister devs said that is not recommend play without heatsink and fan, so probably you will need the I/O board.

I have Mister video and audio running on my Naomi Universal through a Mister IO board. It looks and sounds very good. I haven’t tested the hdmi direct mode yet.

The Mister’s built in scan doubler works great. However, I couldn’t get the 1943 core to display correctly on my Naomi Universal. Fortunately, running it through the A1 Retro Scaler solves this problem.

For controls I might order a JVS PAC. Probably after I purchase a Jammafier for my real boards.
 
Thanks for the heads up... since I'm just testing and not giving heavy usage I suppose just the heatsink is fine. They specify heatsink as minimal requirement, and fan for long term usage: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Mai...y-Asked-Questions#does-my-mister-need-cooling

I still have to investigate since I may find some 3D printed case with fan so I won't need the IO board. Anyway the PCB is not expensive and I can just mount the fan.

This device is amazing! it's a very well thought out system. Fully recommended, great bang for the buck, and the cores I've tried feel very polished.
 
I upgraded my memory.... now I can play the NeoGeo games but for some reason other cores are not playing well with the upgrade (laggy/slow music from genesis, etc). Odd. I also gave away my old mem so I can't go back. Doh!

Interesting. I have been messing around with Mister and also can't get 1943 to display correctly. All the other things I have tried work fine though. I'll try running it thru my OSSC via the IO board instead of the HDMI out to see if that works. 1943 was one of the ones I was most interested in because you can flip the screen.
