138 in 1 with Sammy chips ?
Are you thinking of sacrificing that cart? Please do not. Pretty rare now.

Good Morning! Just to confirm, will this cart have a soft reboot function like previous 161s? My current banana cart soft reboots when you hold start. Trying to clarify if I need to look into a Unibios.

Thanks again for everyone hard work on this project.

You need a special unibios to get back to the menu. The link is a few pages back.

Can you clarify what you mean by this. When I press reset on my cart it goes back to the menu and I do not have a unibios.
I'm guessing you are playing on AES?

That is how it works on AES.

With MVS you need a special version of unibios that will allow you to return to the menu.

Holding start will not return to the menu like it does with the regular 161 in 1 cart.

I tried to get the blue 161 V3 but all they had were the yellow ones available. Will this still work as a donor cart to make the Vortex? Should be in by mid November.

No, unfortunately it has so be the v3.

They confirmed it was V3, same label too, but yellow

My MVS cart arrived today. Hooray!

Is there a reason why Blazing Star, Pulstar, and Metal Slug 3 wouldn't work? When I select one, the screen goes black, and I get booted back to the 161 menu. Several other games I've tried do work, so it makes me think I just missed a note about Unibios settings or something. I've tried JP/EU/US, but it didn't make a difference for Blazing Star.

There's nothing special you should have to set. Get in touch with @rewrite.

You got a link to the buyers list please ?
Just wanted to check where I am 😊🙏

On my end all three listed games load without issue and I'm able to play through at least the 1st level in a quick test for each game.

For Pulstar however, it does load but the game graphics are bad. Hard to describe but it almost looks like when a CPS2 game is not fully seated in the motherboard. Every other game I've tried so far looks perfect visually aside from Pulstar and even in this game the HUD graphics appear correct while everything else looks off.

Audio sounds right so far for everything but I'll admit I don't have the ears or experience to discern the details when it comes to original MVS carts and such, so I might not be the right person to confirm this part of it. Also I don't have a stereo MVS setup at the moment; mine is currently mono only and attenuated via Splitfire output.

fwiw I have Unibios 3.1 installed and it looks like it defaults to Europe + Arcade on boot.

Thanks for checking it out!

I wrote to rewrite, and he thought it might be a power issue. When I'm off of kid duty, I'm going to try cleaning the contacts on my MVS and the cart. If that's no good, I'll measure voltage. This is in my OpenMVS setup, so I have to disassemble stuff to get at the board and JAMMA edge, so I might instead dig out my MV4 and test on there instead.
