DARKSOFT CPS III Bios and CD Releases

for the record: on the photo above is NOT standard SH-2 CPU, but a bit custom chip for Sega. "standard" SH-2 chip is HD6417604

speaking in general - it seems all the Hitachi/Renesas CPUs labeled HD64170xx is the customized CPUs for 3rd party hardware manufacturers.
Cool info. However, as not to over-complicate things and for the simple sake of identification, peeps can just look for the “SH-2” text (as per the image) on the chip and they’ll know it’s a standard.

Ahh, I thought there was a NoCD version with region select. Nevermind then!
Hmmm you might be right, as usual. The carts with my NoCD version of the BIOS have region select. The original NoCD carts have obviously no Region Select.

I'm getting the feeling that your right, it makes no difference if I have a CD insereted or not. Still getting straight to region select and it freezes

If you see region select, then the cart has my BIOS and if it freezes right after choosing the region, that's because you have the wrong contents of the game in the simms1 and 2. That can be because you have a problem with those simms, which I doubt, or because you wrote the wrong CD data.

I tried it after erasing all Simms, still same issue.
I made a video which shows what’s happening https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5lzw...ey=wrqtpe3yifpx8cx12v45m2y8i&st=t0zlntml&dl=0

I have an Ultrabios NoCD from you and it definitely does not do that. I can get to the Utility Menu if I hold down 1P start, but there's no way to get it to boot to the CD-ROM check screen.

If I choose to rewrite a new game in the Utility Menu with the Ultrabios NoCD cart, it will just boot the game that is currently flashed.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure @st3ncil has a NoCD cart. Remains to be seen if it's a combo cart though.

I tried starting it with holding the test button, sadly no luck. Still getting the same frezzes no disk loading screen at all

Smells like you have the wrong stuff written to the simms... I.E.: You have data for normal SH-2 CPU flashed on the simms but your cartridge has a CAPCOM encrypted SH2 or the opposite, same result...

I erased all data from my Simm how come it still is happening

Guys, if st3ncil's cart does not boot into the CD check screen, there is no way to rewrite simms with it.

All things points to st3ncil's cart being a custom SH2 NoCD Super or Ultrabios cart. I don't understand why you're assuming otherwise.

Hey guys, I'm not the seller but I had the sellers carts and a few other bits a while back. I know I tested them on my working board and they worked/had the darksoft menu when I tried them.
I have another of the sellers carts here that is marked nocd but it does write a game, I'm writing one now to see if it works when complete. But in theory this one here and st3ncils should be the same.

If that extra info helps in any way

The one I have here does not have a u5 chip and the one stencil posted pics of does. Again, if that helps?
