I’m deciding to part with one of my grail holdings & what could possibly be one of the only surviving battery CPS3 Third Strike kits of its kind.

I’m putting my CPS3 Third Strike Asia CD kit up for sale. Yes, Capcom actually made a CD version of their Asian Third Strike release which contains A.I. that is extremely more difficult when playing the CPU than what everyone else is playing via Darksoft. This BIOS is also a undumped version region not in MAME or in the SuperBIOS or UltraBIOS, meaning whoever might end up with this is playing a one of a kind release of Third Strike with dramatically different A.I. (highly sensitive read inputs, counter/parrying, etc) than what you might be used to. You can also rewrite the game with this version.

This kit was in business use (not on a shelf for 23+ years) & the cart and some of the manuals do show some normal surface wear. However, the move strips (which are the correct Asia region-issued ones for Third Strike) remain unused (see photos). Print is exceptionally smooth on these compared to their USA counterparts.

The cart has a >2021 Tadiran TL-2150 3.6v 1/2 axial lithium battery installed by me for many more years of reliable operation. This was installed a year ago & is as reliable as can be. For safety, any shipment of this will have the cart placed in an antistatic bag & securely packed separately from the motherboard. Motherboard is clean and fully functional, with a full set of original Capcom SIMMS.

Here’s what you’ll be getting:

  • Third Strike Asia CD cart in original housing with a Tadiran TL-2150 3.6v 1/2 AA battery installed (>2021 date code). This Asia CD BIOS is undumped.
  • Revision 3 motherboard with full set of original Capcom SIMMS with full functionality/rewrite capability/no operation errors. Motherboard is exceptionally clean and unwarped & is mounted on a custom plywood base for safe handling.
  • CR-505 SCSI drive fully working with original SCSI and power cables
  • Original unused movestrips (correct for Asia region)
  • Original CAP-33S-1 and CAP-33S-2 discs with original jewel case (if you want to either play Revision A or B! Revision A will come loaded)
  • Original cartridge mounting bracket & screws (see pictures; this will de disassembled for shipping)
  • All manuals as pictured (including an Original Third Strike Asia manual, software exchange manuals/notices, and CPS3 manual)
Sold for $3,000.00 expedited shipping (via PayPal F&F) in the CONUS only. Please check around this board for my positive feedback; I’ve been reliably in this hobby for over 20 years and this will be guaranteed to arrive to you fully working when installed correctly. Please not that I’ve also encountered recent difficulty with international shipping and am not doing so at this time.

Also, I kindly ask that there be no price policing - I know what I have here and what this offers a serious player/collector. It is truly a one of a kind Third Strike kit offering a unique version to whomever would acquire it.

Wow, uh, so why isn't it dumped? Can we get this dumped by someone on the forums? Why risk losing it?

Because some people think that you can't ask $3000 for it if it is dumped.

Also, it's just the discs that would need to be imaged, nothing else. Anyone could do it.

It’s not the disc that’s undumped; it’s the BIOS. The BIOS has unique programming to use the existing “rom” disc revisions than what’s floating around in other versions (including the SuperBIOS).

Aha, nevermind then. I thought the cart bioses only differed by the region and CD/NOCD flags.

I don't agree with that line of thinking, because the rarity makes the value, but I do understand it.

I also don't think $3k is a crazy price for what the OP is selling, so this isn't a price police.

What I do think though, is that trying to sell an undumped game on a forum where most people are trying to preserve these old games is sort of shit.

I hope the OP gets a sale, and is happy with the sale, but I also hope the buyer (or even the op if able), dumps this game/bios/whatever as a back up first, and then to be released to the community second.

I think it's lame using anything that has been contributed to Mame over the years and then also sitting on undumped gear. That's what annoys me. It's literally having your cake and eating it too.

I'm not saying OP is like that, for all I know he hasn't touched emulation ever, so he's cool in my book.

Good luck with the sale!

There is the USA version of Red Earth that wasn't dumped either, until the release of the Capcom Fighting Collection I believe. They chose to bundle in the Japanese and USA roms in the collection.

But nobody seems to be talking about it, it was something I noticed when it came out two years ago.

Chances of it getting dumped now is 0. Unfortunate, but on the bright side the improved cpu was implemented into the ps2 and 3rd strike online versions.

There's also a undumped revision of 3rd strike, that came before the 990512 one. There was a website that hosted this photo, but I can't seem to find that website now:

No other trace of existence for this I can find. And everyone on the internet only recognizes the 990512 and 990608 as existing. Just the former including the unblockables as the most prominent difference.

Does this or any other undumped revision/bios of 3rd Strike (or 2nd Impact while we’re at it), feature balance/gameplay changes for competitive play ? Or only changes to the A.I. ?

We don't know since they are not dumped, or at least I didn't come across any information for this. As far as it seems, the internet does not recognize a 990419 revision existing, so definitely something of interest indeed.

This version might've been a location test maybe, since it seems like the general consensus for 3rd strike is that it launched with the 990512 revision.

Folks, I think I have the full kit for it somewhere in my other house, I was able to find an old photo of it in my phone. When I go back, I will dump it and submit it to Mame and @Darksoft

I might’ve already dumped this Asia BIOS on a dead cart I acquired recently & have offered it to @Darksoft. Am I able to upload it here on AP?

As I said via DM please send to me via DM, if its undumped then we can share it.
