Strange glitch in Virtua Fighter 3

I have 3 complete sets all with the same fault.
2 sets have serious problems on the video PCB but that is irrelevant.
The game accepts credit but does not enter the service menu, not even through the PCB buttons.
The number of rounds is infinite, the fighters' life bar is zero, one hit and you lose, after starting the game he stays in the same fight infinitely, you can see that for a few moments the game is in slow motion.

What I've already tried:
Increase the source voltage to 5.25v and 3.45v and the failure remains.
I removed the battery and supercap.
I tested with the other two ROMs PCB

Since the failure happens with all my 3 CPU PCBs, I believe it is a recurring problem with the Sega Moldel 3, but Google did not find any information about this problem.
I just haven't tried a conversion to VF3TB yet, which might allow me to enter the service menu and pass the tests, that's my last hope.

The cause of this problem is corrosion caused by liquid leaking from the 'c200' supercap.
'PIN22' of IC22 - 'PIN9' of IC33 - 'PIN1' of IC84 All three points must be electrically connected, but if any one of them is disconnected, it will fail with the symptoms mentioned.
If you check the short circuits of the three points I mentioned and connect them all with wires, the problem will be resolved.

Fixed the 3 CPU Boards, two just a good cleaning with alcohol, one had to make bridges.

Now I need to find some memories to repair 2 video PCBs

And as I live in Brazil, I can't find it here.
I have to find a very cheap place to buy because the import taxes of our communist government are 92% to import anything.

Polygon glitches can be a memory issue, but they can also be a problem caused by a dirty connector.
If you have connector cleaner (ex BW-100), spray it on the connector.

Memory test fail poligon memory and poligon fifo

A bad connector can cause memory failures even when the memory is normal. Give it a try before replacing the memory.

Hi Waiji,

My 2 cpu boards have the same issue and I have followed your instruction and connected the 3 points with wire (please see the attached picture).

I had bad luck. it doesn't work. Have I missed anything?

Hi man1aco, could you please share what pings you made connection to fix the issue? it seems you connected IC33 Ping 9 with IC24 Ping 20. Not sure what you have wired on the back side of the PCB. Thank you!

Please check ic22 again. You now connected to 7pin instead of 22pin.

The wire in the back is to fix the broken trace near the right side of the super cap solder hole.

If yours pcb trace is ok you dont need it.

Yours pcb trace seems a bit rot, you should test continuity.

Got it. Thank you for your suggestion. Let me test the trace as well.

A good bath with paint thinner can work miracles, one of my PCBs only needed one bath.

Your PCB in the photo is dirty and may be contaminated with acids from the capacitors, the acids are conductive and can cause errors in the game.

Yeah, I have reconnected the wires and cleaned the PCB, but the situation remains the same. I can’t see any leakage from the capacitors. Just don’t know how to fix it.

I just reconnected the wires and used a meter to check and make sure the 3 points are connected. Still having bad luck. The issue is still there :\

Try removing your wires and just link IC33 to IC24 pad , as I did.
It works! I saved 3 cpu boards. Thanks man.

And now, I am also facing the video chip issue. It says bad IC 70 and IC 71. Not sure what to do to fix it.

I'm sinking into the same shit.
I need a lot of video memories.
But the value to import with 92% taxes is so high in the Communist Republic of Brazil that it is better to leave everything as it is, one game that is working and not fix the other until they are all defective.
