What's new
despite not owning an System 18 OR a S18 multi I cannot resist the allure of a good arcade project :)

I would like one of these in any flavor please. @hatmoose if you are offering them, I'm highly interested in throwing money in your direction.
Thanks.

Hi Team - no idea if I'll be able to sell these - just a fun sideline at the moment.

As always I will share all of my work in an "in this thread we make" thread.

In the meantime I'm drawing a shell for them to 3D print, Looks like the RaPi Zero already has a case solution, so I'll work on the Arduno one - If anyone is already doing this please let me know to avoid duplicated effort

I am not planning to sell them but I have provided everything needed to build them
Am I an idiot and didn't see it, or where would one get ahold of the blank PCB's to make either of these?

Thanks- so does one supply a place like osh-park that gerber file zip? I used Osh-park once, but I was supplied a link to the pcb I wanted created, which was saved on their site and I just ordered it. . . .

You're about to take your first step into micro-scale electronics manufacturing - its a tonne of fun - you will love it I promise.

First you need the boards
grab the gerbers for the version that you want (the whole zip file will do)
Get that zip file and upload to the PCB manufacturer of your choice. I use JLCpcb because the engineering and finish that they can put on is absurdly good but for a project like this it kind of does not matter.

Any of these will do
https://www.pcbway.com
https://jlcpcb.com
https://oshpark.com

Then you need the parts
Blazezx has kindly listed all the parts for each version of the board including the part number from Digikey. Digikey are absolutely awesome but unless you are an engineer it can be quite hard to browse for stuff - with the part numbers its easy
https://www.digikey.com

Then you can assemble
These are all through-hole parts and the IC's are socketed, so basic tools + practise will do it. And flux, lots and lots of flux

Then you can upload the software onto the PiZero or the Ardunino
I haven't done this yet so can't comment

Hopefully by that time someone (me?) will have designed a case for the Arduino version and you can 3D print that yourself, or get JLCpcb to make it for you.

At that point you're making your own electronic "stuff" at home. I still cannot believe that this is the real world we live in - its just awesome!

Thanks so much for outlining that. I just didn't know how the pcb ordering, etc. worked.

Question time: Has anyone else had issues with the Uno selector? I've built two of these using different unks, And neither will get my S18 to boot games.

I have the board on "0", and I fully see the games on the OLED screen, but using select button, or attract button, nothing happens. I am working dering if my multi is bad even though the games fully work on the knob selector.

I know you will have already checked this, but just in case; the s18 multi header is not the most intuitive thing in the whole world - looks like it is very possible to plug the cable in around the wrong way - I can't see this causing any damage, but I can see it stopping the selector from sending the correct signal to the multi

Hi Team;

(All gone for this round)

To assist with testing and development i've made a bunch of these and will give them away for free
@BladeZX has kindly given permission. I'll also include all the cables and etc for easy firmware updates.

*Free is not actually free - you’ll need to pay for the shipping - typically $US10-20 from NZ to USA. How it will work is you can give me shipping details, I’ll send them off and advise the shipping cost, and you can PPF&F me. Fair warning; delivery times from NZ are regularly 10-20 days.

I have verified everything is the right way. Double Checked with Blade himself.

If you have already sent me your shipping details there its nothing else to do, I'll get them in the mail in the next few days.
If you have not yet sent me your shipping details please message me so I can get them sent

Once I know the shipping costs (probably between $US10 and $US20) I'll send the details and you can pay me back.
