Just wondering what is the safe voltage for a cps2, reason I ask, I'm trying to find a happy medium between the 5v and 12v rails, at the edge connector with the board on I get 4.72v on the 5v and 12.49v on the 12v ideally would like to go higher on the 5v but I only have 1 pot which adjusts all volts together, don't want to mess up me A board.

Set it as close to 5V as possible as measured at the edge connector.

12V is only used for the mono audio amp. Unlike the 5V logic chips, the amplifier operates just fine under a broader voltage range.
Agreed. Audio amps running on 12v typically have around 3v of head room designed in so upping the voltage a bit shouldn't put any extra stress on the components. It may lower your head room and cause mild distortion at max output, not a problem in my opinion.

Mine is running at 4.72v as well at the moment. I just checked when I saw yor post. I did however initially set it higher (4.88v) so either the PSU settled a little (it was new) or Alpha 3 is hungry. This is a little low and can put extra strain on components but is better than overvoltage.

Yea funny you should mention about out strain on components, I've been having issues with the A board not remembering the vol settings so when you turned the cab off after about 30 mins it would default back to very 0 volume, someone suggested replacing the super cap, but since I bumped my voltage up to 4.72 it was originally on 4.55 I turned my cab on this morning after been powered off for 15 hours and the vol saved it self so didn't have to adjust it I assume the to lower voltage set on the 5v rail wasn't enough to full cycle and power up the super cap to where it should be, having said that I've still replaced it today the old cap didn't seem to hold much of a charge for long compared to the new one, took a good 30mins to get that new super cap up to 5v charge and now it's holding while powered off, the old cap when you turned the cab on the super battery was instantly charged which seemed odd, usually a sign of a knackered one.
