Im a big A2 fan and have a cps2 darksoft but would like to have a spare A2 for events.
If somebody has a Zero 2 board is it possible to convert it to Alpha 2?
Main important difference is A2 has Evil Ryu available to play. Also CE Chun, Sim , Gief are available too, they suck though.

And just to clarify i am not talking about SF Zero 2 Alpha, that is the "updated" version of the game and is complete ass.

Thanks

you gotta burn a couple roms keep the originals in the event that you ever want to go back. If you have a burner you can burn them or you can contact a place like hobby roms and they can burn them for you. IF its on battery pick up an open key or a infinikey

Had a quick look at the game. You will need to reprogram all 6 cpu roms because the Japanse and USA versions does not run the same unencrypted code. (Some games share the same code between several regions.)

If you want to run the game encrypted (on battery) it's also possible to reencrypt the USA roms with the Japanese key. If you do that you just need to reburn the 6 cpu roms (Rom 03* to 08*).

Funnily enough I'm doing this right now I've managed to get a full SSF2 Tournament Edition ROM set plus Tournament extension and daughter boards off eBay which I'm converting a normal SSF2 Board to SSF2 Tournament Battle, they were the world version and wanted to change it to Japan region to match all my others, all I did was find out 5 X 27C4096G eproms, downloaded a working rom image and just burn the program roms.

I now have 4 working Tournament boards and hope to link then all up later in the year for a retro gaming event, it's taken me 10 years to find these boards extremely rare in the UK.

Does your board still runs on battery/encrypted code? If it does I have something you could help me to test, some time...

Yes it does I installed a battery and used Arduino to load in the keys, I kept the original eproms as is as I don't want to ruin the stickers on them, If I come to sell the board I will just pop those back in.

What test did you have in mind?

A test of an encrypted version of "Super Street Fighter II X Tournament Battle". Because It's not possible to test if the encryption watchdog work or not in Mame. But it's no stress. I still have something else that keeps me busy. :P

Just shows how long I've been out the field I didn't even realise there was SSF2X / Turbo Tournament Battle version thought the original new challengers only had a tournament battle mode or is this a Rom hack?
