Hello!

A bit of a weird question but I have a somewhat of a frankenstein Naomi Universal cab that I need help with figuring out how to connect ground GND/earth or not.
So, the Naomi Universal cab I have is just a monitor bolted onto the frame. The monitor is a 39" A90LSW095X flat tube with a Rodotron 666 chassie. Currently I'm not getting a picture so it might just be the chassie (will troubleshoot that later).

But, can anyone confirm if the metal frame of the Naomi Universal is connected to the GND of the chassie going to the monitor originally? There's a FG (frame/field ground?) point on the chassie and when connected, I have GND and the Earth (the metal frame) connected together. Feels wrong, never encountered this before. The cab has a isolations transformer.

Should it be like this?

Thanks!

Is this Sven's old cab?

The cab frame is earthed, so unless you have the monitor sitting on plastic shims or spacers, it doesn't matter if you ground the chassis separately. Metal is conductive.

You can always tie common or video ground to Earth. Nothing will break. Often people even recommend doing it. However, every now and then it can lead to visible interference. I suggest trying both ways and see if it makes a difference.

It sure is!
He got tired of it not working so I picked it up from him.

Anyway, I'm in the process of repairing it and the reason why I got confused was that I measured continuity on a SEGA Astro City this weekend and the tube and metal chassie was not grounded together, in other words, there was no connection between GND and earth like on my Naomi Universal cab setup.

Thanks for the answer!

I'll do some troubleshooting and keep you guys updated here.
