What's new
Then those five specific game don't initialize the coin settings. It doesn't mean it doesn't happen with other games.

Try netbooting one of those five games. See if the setting are changed.

Hello everyone
Is it possible to set the rotation to 270Ā° the g25 or g27 steering wheel in openjvs of wipinetbooter
Thanks

To answer my question
yes yes who seeks finds
Here is my config file for the g27 steering wheel
just add "SENSITIVITY 0.3" like this
ABS_X CONTROLLER_ANALOGUE_X SENSITIVITY 0.3

Hello Fellow Wipi Netbooter Enthusiasts,

Recently I have been getting communication errors when trying to boot games from the On Screen Menu.

Launching the games from a web browser works fine. I prefer the convenience of the OSM being able to set Freeplay from the get go.

Originally this worked fine. I havenā€™t powered on the Naomi for a while. Prior to this some games launched and some didnā€™t. Now none of them launch anymore.

It would be great if someone could share their experience and provide a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Communication error!
We seem yo have lost communication with thr controlling software cycle your cabinet power and run the menu software to try again wipi

I had this same problem, my Pi is on 24/7, first thing i did was rebooting it but didnā€™t solved the issue, then i opened the cab and noticed it was running a little hot since something was obstructing its airflow, relocated the pi and everything worked ok after that. I know this may not apply to you but that was my experience.

@elrod

Thank you for the tip. I have a feeling that it has some mechanical problems too. Iā€™ll probably have to take it out and reseat it.

Iā€™ll let you know what happens.

Hello Team,

I wasnā€™t able to get the OSM back to work. How can I backup the current image to format the Micro SD card? Also, can the improved Atomiswave roms be installed onto the Wipi image as well. Retro RGB reported before that there are improved Atomiswave roms that have taken care of some of the slowdowns of these games.

I plan on updating another Ghost Squad cab soon this time using this method (the last method I used was from an RL friend's RPI). I wonder if anyone updated type 3 Triforce or Chihiro systems to the hacked media board firmware using this? I'm pretty sure it involves editing the hacked firmware file name or adding an entry in romsinfo.csv.

Also it would be nice if you added card reader support for Ghost Squad too. Unlike the other games, this uses two serial ports (one for each player) and I/O ports from the JVS board. According to the deluxe wiring schematic, the following signals are involved.
  • Chihiro CN5: Pin 1 - 1P TXD; Pin 2 - 1P RXD; Pin 3 - 1P GND; Pin 4 - 2P TXD; Pin 5 - 2P RXD; Pin 8 - 2P GND.
  • 837-13844-02 JVS I/O CN5 (Outputs): Pin 13 - 1P Card Lock; Pin 18 - 2P Card Lock.
  • 837-13844-02 JVS I/O CN9 (Inputs): Pin 35 - 1P Card in; Pin 36 - 1P /BUSY; Pin 39 - 2P Card in; Pin 40 - 2P /BUSY.

I personally think it'd be a complete waste to use a rpi5 for netbooting.

3b+ is well and truly sufficient for wipi

Pi5 is like $10 more than pi4 for the same RAM tier amount, kind of seemed silly not to get a 5 if itā€™s supported with this šŸ˜

@mR_CaESaR and @DRAGONKZ

Since the 3b+ only has 1gb, is the conclusion right that 1gb is all you need?

Does more ram like 2 gb improve anything? I think the 2gb RPi 5 costs even only 5 dollars more than the same tier RPi 4.

If there's no difference in price then it makes sense to get the newest for the same price.

I have wipi with the 3b+ and never bothered upgrading.

The difference between the 1 and 2 vs the 3 is way more noticeable when loading a game.

Thank you. Right I guess the RPi 5 is not supported. Do you think more ram like the RPi 4b with 2 GB makes a difference?

About the rj45 cable as I need to buy one: Any recommendation? protocol CAT5, CAT6..?

Doesn't matter. Cat6 is backwards compatible with cat5(e)

I would imagine cat6 is more readily available and easy to get vs cat5

Has anyone had any luck getting the serial port on the OpenJVS HAT to work? I have it enabled, and a cable built that I know works going through the RS-232 usb adapter, but am trying to use the serial port on the hat.

I got a null modem adapter as well - thinking that perhaps the RX/TX wouldn't need to be reversed, and still nothing.

I would expect at least to get the RX/TX LED's on the left of the board to light up at some point.

Matt

Iā€™ve been having the same issue. Looking into it a bit, it appears that there may be models of n2 that have the necessary serial support and models that donā€™t. Other than stickers that say ā€œserialā€ on the mobo, I donā€™t yet know how to tell without testing which Naomi 2 would work for card reader emulation. Hoping to get more info.
