Consolidated and updated recommendations https://irkenlabs.com/jammafier/cabinet-recommendations/

My retrotink 5x has been in a box for a while, but gave it a spin yesterday with updated firmware - which seem to have improved things quite a bit. With the right scart cable, the setup is now pretty easy and straightforward. For <2.0 Jammafiers, you can achieve exactly the same with a tri-sync-helper.

I only tried a couple of PCB's with the 5X, anyone else got experiences with the jammafier and 5x on the latest firmware?

If you considered getting a Jammafier and happen to live in the US, now is a great time as the NOK/USD conversion rate is historically favorable. Sucks for everyone else buying stuff in USD and getting paid in something else.

Just got a Jammafier ! I'm wondering what could be powered by the 5V usb port ? What's the max amp rating of it.

thinking of a rpi, mister , gbs-control for 240p downscalling ,etc.

thx

Rev 2.0 can provide more current than earlier revisions, about 1A should be OK in all cases. It's not current limited, and connected directly to the 5V input rail.
It was designed to do initial firmware upload, and to power the Retro Scaler A1 (which uses about 0.6A). RetroTink 5X is also confirmed working fine.

I believe I recall reading that the jammifier in a NC/NNC could function with the JVS link board for a jamma head to head setup. Am I dreaming?

@invzim i have a problem with the jammafier. For P2 it does not send left for the stick to games anymore. I tested JVS boards so the stick is fine. Used tekken 3. Jvs p2 works fine. Using the jamma edge with jammafier p2 does not work properly anymore. Tested on an mvs and cps2 as well. Any idea what this is and can be fixed? I have it less then a year and thats a real bummer right now :(
Edit further testing:
The jammafier registers the left comming from the jvs but does not send it to jamma edge anymore. Also the left p1 stick stopped working but then started working again. I am at a complete los right now.

Two threads, a PM and an e-mail :)
In general - first step would be to check the JVS input test, on the jammafier - i.e to check that all inputs are registered and stable, from the jammafiers point of view.

I know i can be really annoying 😅 forgive me 😔
I was just so frustrated since i had friends over to play on my cab on Saturday and first my new CPS2 strikes completely and after i got it back to work i found out p2 has issues on the jammafier.

The jammafier registers the left from the jvs. The left also works on my naomi and tekken 3 pcb via their jvs.
The jammafier sent left and right as always on and one time up plus left to the games before it settled with no input for left at all.

I use a jammer extension cable so i dont have to handle the jammafier by pushing it onto the boards. Its very stiff and i was afraid i would break it.
My first thought was it is the cable after i made sure it's not the game. But also not the case i connected the jammafier directly to board and the result is the same no left input.

Probably not enough coffee for me, can you rephrase? I'm talking about the input test on the OLED on the jammafier, check all inputs and see that no inputs are stuck on.

@invzim

Thats what i meant by the jammafier registers all inputs from JVS including left. I checked the oled screen plus other JVS hardware to make double sure all is fine.

This left and right always on at the same time was only temporary and i can not reproduce this anymore. :-/ after a restart it was gone.

On the OLED screen nothing is stuck all buttons and directions register as expected.

Any further idea? Tested also my Tekken 1 PCB with direct connection to the jammafier. Same problem left P2 isnt working. Cleaned the connections even though all is clean.

Could it be a software related issue? I mean i never touched the jammafier and i can not see any kind of damage on the solder joints for the jamma connector.
Also i did not update any firmware since i received it from you. Its still on July 2022. Could this help with anything or diagnostics?

Well, it's a new one for sure. In the picture you posted P2 left is ON,did you push p2 left while taking the picture?
