Hey AP forum, ive had this blast city sometime now and never got around to fixing this issue.

The problem is in the video link posted, Ive tried checking any loose connections and things seem firmly in place. One thing that seems to get rid of it or fix it is, if i mess with the remote board and move the wires a bit, the monitor will look normal for a bit.

After a few minutes, the screen will flicker red again and im assuming because the remote board harness is worn out and isnt holding the shape i wiggled it to stay looking good. ( if that makes sense lol )

ANYWAYS, ive gotten this chassis recapped before just to be safe and that never solved anything. So do you guys and gals think if i just get a new remote board harness, it will fix the issue? or is this something else?

I can post another video of me moving the remote board around if needed, but all it does is either get rid of the flicker or make it go wild like in the video

I'm sorry I don't have answers for you -- but I'm interested because my MS9-29 does this a bit, too!

Update:

I dont know why i didnt try this sooner, but i have other cabs. I swapped out one of the remote boards and it still had the issue.

After that i tried swapping out the ribbon cable and it somewhat seemed to fix it, but after adjusting the picture to my likings... it came back.

Its kind of weird because after say 3-5 mins of it being on, it goes away but will flash red really random, sometimes even after an hour.

If there are other suggestions please let me know, otherwise i will probably see about getting the chassis serviced.

Sounds exactly like mine 😬

Try wiggling the connectors on the bottom of the frame under the bezel. I needed to replace them on one of the cabs I owned in the past.

Could also be a neck board issue.

Does this mean amp up connector that brings in power/color signal coming from the psu/harness?

Yes. There's also the interconnect for the remote. Both of them can be flaky.

Well, I might be having some luck reproducing it by poking at the wires going to the neckboard from the chassis. Hopefully reflowing those connectors will solve it for me. Fingers crossed! Hope @Maruchan can solve this, too!

Going to do some poking around too when i get the chance, ill report back if anything happens!

I tried disconnecting almost everything besides actually removing the monitor.

For the most part, it feels like it flickers if i touch just about any connection lol.
Disconnected everything from the blast city IO board and still mixed results.

i will most likely just have to take it to someone to get serviced again to see whats up.

wiggling all the wires to get them in certain positions to stop the flicker is like using a old phone charger that needs to be held at a certain angle lol.

I would reflow the input connectors, the neck board connectors, and the remote board connectors. Also check the soldering on the color drive transistors on the neck board, sometimes the heat can cause the solder joints to crack. Should be a pretty simple one.

Agree. Something is jostled and it sounds like a cold solder situation. Id really take some time to investigate each area and connection patiently. Based on the video most likely If you have an insulated plastic adj tool you could lightly probe suspect spots and see if any behavior changes as well. But a good power off and thorough check sounds in order.

For the most part, i tapped the bottom tray that holds the chassis and it stopped the flicker during gameplay. But it does flicker red on start up for like 30 secs.

Most likely a cold solder joint or something is loose. Lately i been busy with life/work so i dont have much time to actually take the tube out.
