Hello guys,
As the title says I am a first time RE1 owner. A good friend of mine let me hold on to it to test it out. He has a handful of them and never got to power it up to test it out. So here I am, read up on it to see what I was getting myself into as well.
It looks pretty stock as I opened it to clean and assess the machine. One crazy thing I noticed was one of the surface mounted components was loose inside of the case. (See photos attached). From what I was able to look up is. It looks like some sort of timing crystal component correct?
Found the spot where I think it was soldered onto. But not sure if it is a bidirectional component? So I aligned it like the same component that was directly above it.
I have also attached photos of the components that was installed in this version. I do own a Lindbergh & a TTX2 so I am a little familiar with PC based arcade hardware.
What I am not sure of is the system like the Lindbergh where it needs a security chip to be able to boot up?
Thx for all the help,
V/r
Kelly
