It looks okay at first glance...

Loving the overspray

The spraypaint moneyshot

Those yellow stain splotches are not dirt. They are times the previous owner decided to do "touch-ups" with spraypaint, to cover a tiny nick in the original coating. Naturally, they used the cheapest rattle can, and the paint turned yellow.

The cab is pretty dirty, covered in shitty spray paint work, spots of rust inside, and the power supply is dead.

All in all, a great New Old Stock cabinet!

In seriousness, even though the cabinet is kinda shithose, it isn't anyone's fault but Yaton's - thank you @XeD for putting it together and @acblunden2 for helping arrange the pickup spot. And finally @sprayk for the trucking.

how was that cab confirmed working. Thought all the cabs were confirmed working

My favorite part is the mold on the inside and the power entry hackjob.

I'm interested to see if you turn it on to see your monitor quality

Thanks for the feedback Mike. I thought I made it clear it was no long nos and that term was miss used and was meant for the NNC which was also not NOS as to the 220V psu. Sorry for the miss understand. I will do my best to correct this. I ask anyone with problem with the E2 to be patient with me. It may take me awhile to sort this out. I have to ask.Given its current condition what would you pay

Did you check the power switch underneath?

Other than the shady paintwork it looks like it'll clean up ok.

Nah, it’s nothing you did wrong. I knew these wouldn’t be NOS, I’m just being cheeky.
I happen to have a spare E2 (actually!) NOS power supply, so I’m not bent out of shape about that part. I’m just grossed out by the mold and the pukey paint job.
All things considered, the price still isn’t THAT far off for an Egret 2. If Yaton is willing to do any partial amount back for the mold and PSU, it’d be great, but it’s not as if this is a complete turnaround from an expectation of pristine shopped cabs.

the monitor powers up, it’s the PSU putting 0.1V on the 5V rail. Once I get the death mold out of here I’ll get the new PSU in.

@Hatsune Mike can you post pics of the of psu for future reference. Well I did take on to much for my 1st group buy. Many thanks to all the people involved orgainizing things state side. I don't want to taint my name just in case another opportunity arise. So I will take care of this. Just need time

And here is my E2:

And here is some of the rest of the others. They all have the same pecadillo hatsune mike mentioned (touched up with spray paint which turned yellow).

And here is the Windy II that is going to my buddy that lent us the processing site:

And here is the NNC I am ending up with (swapped with my buddy for as he really wanted the Windy II and we were shorted a Windy II by Yaton).

And here is my assessment of the cabs:

IMO based upon the below scale, what I could see through the shrink/bubble wrap, and the few cabs that were unwrapped for local pick-up, here are my thoughts:
  1. Bad (functional/a parts cab)
  2. Fair (operated heavily on site location)
  3. Good (medium operation on site location)
  4. Very Good (light operation on site location)
  5. Excellent (NOS)
  • 8x - New Net City's: Very Good
    • The monitor shrouds on all of them were yellow which is inevitable given this much time since they rolled off the assembly line. Aside from that, they all looked very good consistently across all the cabs. All the cabs have 2P/6B per player. The only problem I could see is that it is a rat's nest back there. XeD posted a photo earlier.
  • 9x Windy City II's - Good
    • All exhibited yellowing on the monitor shrouds in spots. Not as consistent in terms of the imperfections as the NNC's.
  • 15x - Egret II's - Fair
    • And here is the bad news. None of these are in good shape. Even through the shrink/bubble wrap, they all show signs of having been touched up (see pics). Of course, the touch-up spots then yellow quickly. The good news is that the monitors do look pretty good. As these were last off the container, we were able to position them in the sun to illuminate burn on the tubes. We didn't see much or any through the wrap. Then the clouds covered the sun. All had 2P panels, some of the Astro City layout through button 4, and some with the 4 button Neo Geo style layout.
  • 2x Q25 - Fair
    • I had a 50/50 chance to unwrap one to check if it had the rotate mech nailed it in one shot. I could see some rust along the bottom (no pics taken).
  • 1x Domy Theater (didn't check)
Bear in mind, I did not scrutinize each and every cab. My assessment is from the cabs that were unwrapped for local pick up. All the rest were left wrapped and my assessment was a superficial visual inspection through the bubble wrap. No cherry picking as you can see with what Mike and I ended up with. The NNC's and Windy II's, folks should be happy. The E2's, since these are sooo hard to get, you will be disappointed unless you reset you expectations. I would still say these are worth what we paid for them. But I say this knowing I don't have to pay any additional freight charges to me. I think this eloquently stated earlier in this thread by @radiantsvgun bears repeating:
Any CRT cab not coming from another hobbyist is probably going to need work. Expect to have to put in time and money on these cabs, especially for this low price. Trust, as long as the monitor works- you can figure out the rest.

FYI, these are still in Fremont, CA. rewrite and theoddtech are coming up from SoCal to pick-up 5 cabs. Cereth is grabbing the rest tomorrow at the same time.

Thanks for the report @acblunden2. Good to hear at first glance the Windy and NNC hit the 50% mark (that's a school pass right? Just not a trade school pass)

70% where I went to school. Do they really have that low of expectations in Canadian schools?!?

Elementary back in the day. I guess I should find out since my kid are going to school now. Trade school was 70%

That Q25 cab is much nicer in person than in its photos. The glass over the monitor screen gives it protection. You can put it on location in the US and thugggggz can't key the monitor screen :). Good choice for operators.

That actually worked out backwards for Aero City/City/Aero Table cabs... If you have one with messed up glass you're pretty much looking for another cab to steal glass from, because Sega is dumb and they printed on that glass. So it would be cheaper to replace the monitor in most cases now. :(

And the mold scares me considering the Q25 is 50% wood...

Well I managed to neck the tube while using the rotate mechanism, so the tube is dead and I can’t give you a pic of how it looked when on.
