What's new
It would still be awesome for a multi someday, I love these cv1000 games

I would love for the games to be obtainable at more reasonable prices :/..

Regret i sold my ibara.. bought it for 130 euro back in the day.. sold it for 250 some years later. Should have never let it go

Were even in japan when G-Front still had Deathsmile kits for 30k yen ;(;(;(;(

Alright, we're at $1000. Coming down rather quickly. ;) Still needs to be halfed once or twice more before I consider.

Besides, someone was joking about having stolen the gerber files but this is the most likely scenario. Cave designed and licensed someone to make this platform at some point (Taiwan?) and those files are now out there. It's a four layer pcb, I don't think someone could disassemble it and make, what looks like, a 1:1 copy otherwise.
yes this is what I assume happened I just cant imagine someone doing a clone board to THAT level of detail but I mean nothing is impossible.

They managed to get the gerbers from one of the PCB manufacturers. Its actually not totally uncommon for manu's in China to just leak out stuff.
I think thats partly the reason with alot of modern cabinets that Sega or taito make. Everything BUT the PCB's are china. The PCB's will always say made in Japan.

The odd thing is the gold plating. I just put my CV1000D in storage otherwise id be staring at it as we speak.
Ibara and Mushihimesama both had gold plating. Mushihimesama second run didn't (CAVE converted unsold Mushihimetama to Mushihimesama - they even left the chip with "TAMA" unaltered).

To be honest, these new China PCBs are easy to tell apart. Anyone dropping this many $$$ without doing their research is a bit silly.

yup, boards are the easy part, its the customs or any NLA chip that makes certain repros just "blanks" etc. i have done several.
Though there was a time when custom PCBs were unaffordable without a significant investment, or making very small numbers etching them yourself. There are now things like https://tinytapeout.com/ , and there are companies that can turn your working FPGA design into an ASIC for something like $10k . As processes get optimised they may reach hobbyist levels where you can justify making desirable parts like tilemap or sprite controllers or audio synthesisers.

You are probably going to be waiting for a while, since the SH3 and the FPGA alone are probably going to hover around 200-250 or so. Moreso if they're just scavenging from "dead" Cave PCBs.

I would honestly be surprised if they somehow managed to magically track down the original gerbers somehow and then cloned the boards. Most likely they got the boards scanned and reproduced in China.

Edit: CPS-3 is SH-3 as well, isn't it?

No, it is SH2. I think the CV1K is the only gaming-related thing that actually used a SH3.

the post pigeons from china had tailwind .. my parcel arrived today.
Dont expect the holy Cave cardboard ... it came packed in a Chinese "ready-to-eat-outmeal" box - BBD 1.1.2024 :whistling:
The pcb itself is brand new, as expected from the pictures on ebay.

Gameplay tests later today - if anyone requires anything specific, let me know.

What game did you get? I played a ton of Futari 1.5 and can dream the slowdown, but the other games, not so much.
Also, pics of the components so we can see datecodes perhaps? How's the soldering work, general quality of the pcb etc etc.. :)

Nice!
My experience buying other stuff from them before was good in terms of communication and shipping time as well.

Hope the board works well.

its SDOJ. Soldering and components look flawless .. like a ordered PCB, which it has to be.

Pictures please.
here you go:
its Cave - so cardboard first :D wrong bubble wrap color - so A-

The board works as expected: startup checksum test gets passed, test menu works, saving settings works.
Gameplay .. works too :D Anything else I should try from a system perspective?

Heres how it should play :
meh. not even expert mode !

this is how it really should play:
Ibachi expert, 1-ALL. (change the quality to 720 ...lower sound ... ibachi @ 28:29 if you want to go directly there)

Can't make it out in the pictures, can you snap a close-up or check the markings on U13?
