Seems that Brizzo did a run of these in... 2019? The list of multi-carts (and related) links here, and that thread is all I know about it (so forgive me if there's info elsewhere I've missed).

I'd be willing to buy one of these at (or a bit above) initial sale price if anyone is willing to part with theirs. I'd love to play something beyond Crystal of the Kings on mine :)

I think that's a tall ask for something not made in five years and (seemingly) had a very small production run. I'm sure it would cost a lot more to make new ones post Covid as well, so even if another run were done it wouldn't be at that price-point.

That being said, I do hope you manage to find one. Your best bet is probably asking the man himself, I'd imagine!

While we’re here. Does anyone have the flashing software for the cart? I’ve misplaced my copy and can’t find it!

@buffi wanna part with your "questionable choice"? :P
No, what type of multiboy would i be if i sold my multis?!?

I need one as well. @Mitsurugi-w is purchasing a PnP setup with good assembly capabitilites, so he could make this project on a regular basis under a license.
I'm not the one who is purchasing the pnp but I will be operating it. More news about that later.

Makes sense. I am just putting this out there because, who knows, I might get lucky.

And I have messaged Brizzo, just haven't heard back. I'm sure they're busy. :)

If there is a hunt for one toward making more, put that ahead of me in the line!

I'm just going to throw my two cents in.
Any multi not currently being produced should be open sourced at the end of its production run.

We are the elite few and the idea that really anybody is going to go to the trouble to make another multi when one existed is slim to nonexistent.

Meet demand forever or open source.
Only seems fair.

Why shouldn't it be. Once the return on investment is made or loss of interest why not let it live on.
I know people are protective but then why release any at all?

I mean fair. Its just wise to consider how unusual outside of this space it would be to even do something of the sort.

I'm more than happy to support any quality work done.
Just hard to do if it goes up in smoke.

People can do whatever they want with their hardware designs.
Agree 100%
Of course its nice when people open source projects, but you can't really go in with an expectation that it should be the norm.
Again, agree 100%. I would like people to either open source or to give it to someone skilled and that can still make them like @Mitsurugi-w and agree on some fees. That's what I would do.

You don't want to see my source code. I usually take an old .c file and start making modifications to the main, then I remove the old functions that are not needed anymore, but not always, and a lot of old comments from unrelated projects are still there, but hey! it works!

@brizzo ping — wanted to see if there’s any word on Dongul Haerong working or if you had the software?
That's weird... I dug around and I think my multi came pre-flashed. I don't have the software either. @twistedsymphony do you have it? you're usually more organized than I am...

Mine was pre-flashed and ready to go upon receipt.

But as I stated earlier, only like 1-2 games work and I never got a reply PM from Brizzo.

EDIT: I should add that I don't think or accuse Brizzo of trying to trick me or sell a bad product, I just think he is busy and has not seen my PM. Hopefully he comes back one day and does see it!

Can I both-sides this one?

As a consumer, I would love if creators opened up their work when they're no longer interested in selling it. Totally with you on that.

However, if creators didn't have freedom to do what they pleased with their work, we would probably have fewer creators making stuff at all. I'd rather have more creators, and just gently beg them to release their work when they're done selling :P

Coming from the software space, I'd add that there's a lot more to open-sourcing a project than releasing the code. E.g.:
  • Cleaning up code so it's intelligible to others
  • Creating documentation
  • Shepherding contributions to ensure they're safe and in line with the project's goals, or identifying a successor to do that
Plus, in time, there may be enough demand to justify another run-- and better ROI to the creator. I think @Darksoft thought he had exhausted demand for the MVS Multi several times now.
