What's new
Hey it’s me again. Lol. This Sonic Wings 3 was in the cabinet. But I don’t know much about Neo Geo. Is this a legitimate MVS cart with some type of jamma adapter?

Not sure if this is “converted cart”, clone, or what. The SNK sticker looks promising.

I saw these for about $180 on eBay unless it was not the same kind. Anyone know what I got here or the relative value?

That's a Neo geo 1 slot. It's jamma
Very handy to have in case you don't have and MVS wired cab to play Neo Geo carts

The only real way to tell whether the cart is legit is to open it up and compare the boards to the legit ones on MVS Scans: https://www.mvs-scans.com/index.php/Aero_Fighters_3

Just be careful not to crease the label too much by opening it like a book.

I believe I have all 3 jamma variations. Anything 2 slot+ is MVS and its not advisable to run those in non-mvs wired cabs. They cause audio issues, etc.

I wouldn't bother opening it. It's a genuine cart.

Nice find! Aero Fighters 3 is definitely worth something. It's a great game too!

I managed to pull the monitor out myself without a helper. Pretty proud of myself. I did forget one cable I had to disconnect so I had to pull that out and not drop the monitor. Luckily I succeeded.

Looks like other parts of the loom are patchy and cut up a little too.

Think a repair is definitely in order. Maybe a nice clean too for the wiring. But I think I’d rather pay for a pro to do that.

Has anyone tried these out? I wanna play crazy taxi and outrun 2 so bad. Can you use a wireless dongle with these?

Would be cool to get some customized Xbox controllers for it.

Ewww. Non Japanese coin mech

Worst part was the coin chute was super jammed with nickles, quarters, pennies, straw wrappers. I struggled becuase I tried to clear the jam with it still in the machine at first.

I was getting pretty frustrated.

I took it out and put soapy water in it and continued using a flathead screwdriver to pry it apart a little and then finally all that change came flying out.

Luckily I found a spare one in my OG Astro. Wasn’t sure how to replace but figured it out. Was a very satisfying upgrade. Looks way better in my opinion and didn’t have to anything to make it accept yen.

I want to put my VF3 in the Astro 2. Anything to be careful of? The stock Astro 2 power supply should be good right? Thank you.

Astro 2 was for Virtua Fighter 1. If it has the stock PSU, then it is missing the 3.3V rail needed for Model 3.
Would either of these solutions work?

I have no idea what the Japan-arcade harness is for.

The Edokko-chan one could work. The problem is it's using a PC PSU. Those don't have user adjustable voltages. That can be hit or miss with arcade hardware.

Mean Well QP-150-3A is the PSU I normally recommend, but you would need to make the harness for it yourself or ask someone like @Lemony Vengeance to make one for you.

Wondering if the Blast City is a better candidate. But then I’d have to remove my NetDimm from the Blast and I’m sure I’d need help / equipment moving that to the Astro 2.

Naomi hardware has the same problem. It needs 3.3V as well.

Naomi also looks like trash in 15khz.

I would keep the Naomi in the Blast.

Gotcha. The Sun power supply I have must be 3.3 v then?

Does the Astro 2 support medium resolution for VF3?
