What's new

An improved JVS-PAC (JVS-PAC 2)

Does it support analog for crazy taxi?
I have a few Naomi’s and wondering if I can get one for upright ct too.

It's not really clear to me from the update but is joystick support available in the current JVS PAC 2 design?

I know I've mentioned it before but specifically Xbox 360 support I think it's even more important to me know as I'm planning out installing an Xbox 360 in a JVS cab so having native Xbox 360 controller support would make this device AMAZINGLY useful to me (and anyone else who wants to install a 360 in a cab for the awesome shump and fighting games on it).

So how did you ever got on with this? Messing about with a Cronus Max currently, but haven't managed to get it working yet.

ONE 360 controller was pretty easy, 2+ controllers turns out to be a bit of a challenge.

Do you mean in combination with the Cronus Max, or another solution? I was afraid that more than 1 controller was going to be an issue :( So how do people typically deal with this then?

No, updated firmware on the JVS-PAC 2. I would very much like for it to be two or more 360 controllers.
Ohhh, I completely missed this update then (also don't see it in the release notes? https://irkenlabs.com/jvspac2/firmware-update/), thanks for mentioning! What would be needed to enable multiplayer support? Is it limited because of the Xbox 360's USB port, or..?

Nah, it's a WIP on my bench. If I manage to get 2+ 360 controllers, it will be announced and released right away. xinput is a terrible hack with the sole purpose of making money for microsoft, technically a normal HID device would have the same performance. But I'm on it (on and off :)).

Nice, good to know you're working on it! Does that mean you cracked it? :D I'd be open to beta test your WIP fw, even though it's only 1P? :)

I figured somebody had found a good working solution in the meantime, since @twistedsymphony brought it up (in the quote up here) over 6 years ago already :O Time flies I guess!

If you end up hitting a road block with 2(+) players, I think it would still be worth releasing with only 1 player Xbox 360 support. Most shmups are really meant for one player anyways.

In any case, it's awesome that you are working on support for this!

Also looking forward to seeing the new JAMMAfier rev!

I still have a spare JVS-PAC 2 in a drawer waiting for the day when the new firmware comes for now I'm using:

In my Noir but have everything on JST connectors for easy swap back to OEM.

I second the call to release the 1 player firmware. :D
I have a couple of one player cabinets that I'm looking to restore, that I mentioned to invzim that the firmware would be perfect for.

I got a Sega I/O Type 4 today but I can't get it to work maybe its not compatible with the JVS-PAC 2?

I've been told the "dips" may need changing.
According to the OLED, things should be OK - just that it doesn't have the "signature" of the IO board you're using, that's just cosmetics.

If you start it with the file jvsdebug.txt, it will log all kinds of stuff. The normal error is using a usb cable without the datalines connected (stuff laying around from a powerbank etc), then everything will appear to be working - but not detected by computer.
