Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 2025 UPDATE

Ant update on a possiblity of a new PICKnMIX bios for Rewrites cart? Loving this Vortex cart so a picknmix would make it even better!
I've sent all the necessary info to a few people who have asked, but no one has come back stating they've done it yet.

I've shipped out every cart in my possession that has been paid for.

Still remaining here are the 2 chips carts:
@Pinballjim , will be doing up your cart, my spare 2 chip cart (which I intend to sell), and @SparkTR 's all at once when his arrives.

And I think 6? carts that are either on their way to me, or said to be coming to me soon.

But for the first time since this I got the carts back, I genuinely have nothing on my desk, and it's pretty cool.

Between 2 forums and several that have gone out to friends, I've topped 125 carts shipped now. Of those, only 4 have found their way back to me, 2 of which were caps that needed replacing, 1 was a wire that had found its way off. Not half bad for 100% hand soldered.

Wait, Im confused but also a little high - so - I know what Pick n Mix is for the 161 carts. It just 'hides' all of the junk hack games and can choose games at will, etc. Great stuff.

But is someone after a new version of Pick N Mix for the Vortex carts? If so what for? All you need is the patched UniBIOS and you can reboot the system without a power cycle. I mean - with these carts, there *is* no filler, so there should be nothing to hide?

Some people still (erroneously) hate Stakes Winner, I hate to say :(

The one other thing that I know Pick n Mix does that the unibios doesn't on its own is cycle through games attract modes. Which while cool, doesn't really seem to matter if you're y'know, playing the games.

Yes, with PICKnMIX the ability for all the games to cycle their attract modes and then also the ability of holding a button to scroll through the entire list and then choosing what to play is super cool. I gives the effect of a 161 slot MVS!

Thank you for working hard on these. The demand seems to be legit steady. Its getting tougher and tougher to find these carts and China is about to have their new year shutdown. Im sure you will keep busy, but enjoy this vacation from the carts, no matter how long it lasts or doesn't last! Much appreciated.

Several vendors said that they expect more production of the v3 carts "early next year" (referring to 2025). We'll see if that happens. Can do the 2 chip carts as well at this point, they're just a tad more finnicky and I'm not super excited about doing them, lol.

But very glad to have a break of sorts from this and do something else for a bit. I'm happy to keep taking BYOC orders for either type of cart, not going to turn down business, but my gosh I need a break, ha.

Backbit are also throwing their hat in the ring with affordable(ish) AES and MVS flashcarts in 2025, there's definitely demand under a certain price point and I think it'll be fully satisfied in the coming years.

I just wish every person who does something neo related didn't think they needed their own file format. MAME (this one makes sense since it's 1:1 with the actual eproms on the board), FBNeo, .NEO, DS format, and now her own format too. It's just a mess and very silly.

I love picknmix on the 161 n 1.

I love to let games sit in attract mode. The cycling is fantastic.

I hated all the bullshit on the 161 in 1 (like everyone else).

I most loved that picknmix got rid of the bullshit.

With the vortex cart it's not really necessary in a private space.

If you were putting it in a public cab it would be cool to allow customers to pick the games via the picknmix menu.

I would still like to have it.

A question that I think is unanswered - does the vortex picknmix bios work with carts that are not the vortex cart?

I recall something being said about picknmix being forced on even when not using the vortex cart. I didn't know what that meant.

Me too, for the record. I know you and I have discussed this and how there's basically 0 documentation on the process despite two people having done it :/ .

I'm not sure why it's so awful for people who offer things up in open source spaces to take the little bit of extra time to document things as they go, but they sure don't like to, ha. It's not like you need to harbor trade secrets, it's already open source.

Edit: actually I guess it isn't open source, since there's zero information on how the patches were created.

I am interested in one if I can get on a waiting list please. Please let me know. Thank you

Only way I can help is if you already own or can source a cart to send me. But I'd be very happy to help you if so.

I can give this a test tonight if you like. I programmed a picknmix bios and can test it with a non vortex 161 in 1 v1. With Vortex cart it boots to picknmix automattically but it lists the wrongs games etc which i expect it will do with standard cart too. Especially the V1

That would provide us with good info. Thanks.

I found with my aes cart push it in ..
Then ever so slightly pull it up a tiny bit ,
And all is cool..
I might need to clean the pins though ..
I was getting random reset but with a tiny pull up it was good, might just be my neo 😁👍.

Has anyone tried to shave/sand down the sides of the Chinese pcbs to see if it makes the carts fit better? They seem to fit very snug, just not as perfect as original SNK carts obviously.
