Hey everyone, my vewlix F‘s speakers recently started making crackling noises and I was wondering what are some of the easy/obvious things I should be looking for. I tried a different 3.5mm cable going from my pc to the cabinet and I made sure it was the cabinet’s speakers by connecting different speakers using the same cable, to the computer (no crackling). I’m very new to everything so I’d like to avoid taking apart the cabinet as much as possible. If there’s anything simple I should be looking for or trying, I’d love the advice and help. Thanks!

Seconding this check the 3.5mm audio jack on the amplifier board which is right behind the service panel. These could easily get bumped or tugged over the years and cause a bad solder connection.

Reseat all your audio cables and or swap the main 3.5mm audio cable if suspect. Inspect the port see if its noticeably loose, jiggle some of your cables related to audio gently and see if it creates the issue.

If the port is damaged or you suspect the board is damaged or has bad solder joints you need to pull the board out of the cab inspect it and re-solder the audio connector to the board and check to see if the issue happens again.

Thankfully it ended up being the game (Guilty Gear Rev2). I have my 3.5mm going into an external usb sound card and the game apparently doesn’t like that as it seems to work fine if I skip the sound card. I’ve never had any problems with other games so it’s a bit strange and when I connected a different pair of speakers to the sound card using the same cables, it didn’t have any issues with the same game. Kinda puzzled but I’m just glad I don’t have to do any disassembling of the cab or soldering.
