Looking for a suitable unlock tool the remove the connector pins from AMP UP connectors (e.g. Sega style Control Panel connectors).

Any suggestions for both male/female connectors?

Just use a paperclip. Follow this video but I find that a standard paperclip works much better than a large paperclip that's suggested in the video.

Insert the paperclip into the rear of the male or female connector above the wire/contact and you'll feel it gently 'click' into position. You can then let go of the paper clip and pull on the wire, if the paperclip is in the right place you'll find it pulls out with next to no force and the connector as well as the contact/wire can be used again.

I've removed hundreds and hundreds of contacts/wires with this method.

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Sir-Tools-SIRST9025-Terminal-Extractor/dp/B000Q6SHAS

honestly it's not all that great, but it is better than trying to use a paperclip or a screw driver.

There is an official tool for this connector (as there is with just about every connector) but last time I looked it was something like $60, which is a lot to spend unless you happen to be using that connector series A LOT.

thanks both, will give it a go this weekend with a paperclip.
I have some different tools for automotive connectors, maybe some of thos would do the trick as well if the paperclip fails.

It's just for incidental use (building Jamma harness for my NNC), but out of curiosity, does someone have a picture of the 'official' tool?
Maybe I can find something similar in the automotive connector kit :)

I have a swiss army knife style set of allen wrenches (hex keys). I start with the smallest and work my way up until the pin unlocks. If I had to do it a lot I'd buy a better tool, but it works better than paper clips have for me.
