If anyone ever questioned if the speaker kit in the flyer came out.

It did.

In the manual it's just referred to as a "Speaker kit for Blast City".

Manual pics and schematic are from here:

So who's going to try to build one?

great info - also i've never seen Spikeout running on an Astro City - do all variants of the MS9-29 support 24khz?

some headwave systems showed up on YAJ occasionally back in the late 200X's. my guess is most were scrapped.

I'm looking at the schematic from the first website. It shows how you can wire up the game to a standard Blast City cabinet. However, it doesn't show is any of the connections to the speaker kit.

It would make sense that the seat included a subwoofer and the official website confirms this:

The manual scan shows what's inside the box under the seat:

Unfortunately, it's not a great pic.

Black thing in the top left is the transformer for the audio amps. Not sure what's directly above that.

Top right looks like a low pass amp?

Bottom right is a Model 3 audio amp, my guess is it's a 838-13475, which is a 4-channel amp with "2 channel inputs, 4 speaker output (front left, right, rear left, right) with optional woofer output." (thank you, AGS)

I'm not sure what is going on in the bottom left. However, the manual has instructions to fix the sound board in place and the put the power amplifier on top of it.

If you had to install these yourself, I guess they already came with the game kit? Sound board is the DSB, but what's the amplifier?

I would be shocked if any of these are in private hands. If any still exist, likely buried in a warehouse somewhere (possibly that French guy in Hokkaido), NOS Sega forgot about, or some random Arcade in Akita Prefecture.

There's bound to be ones in private hands. They can't be that rare.

@Hikaru, you don't happen to have one?

Just get a kick out of the fact they're absolutely BLASTING your skull with giant speakers and then call the system "Head Wave" :D

for the record
