I've had a running argument with a buddy of mine about Megaman: The Power Battle. Is it classified as CPS1 or 2. My understanding is that it released as CPS 1.5 - so I round that up to 2! LOL

but what is the official status of this game?

Two programming revisions of The Power Battle exist: One for Capcom's CPS-1 system, and one for CPS-2; These were released simultaneously in Japan. In the USA, only the CPS-1 version and a "SAMPLE" version of the CPS-2 revision were released. Since the QSound title card graphics can also be found in the CPS-1 version, it's likely that the game was developed for the CPS-2 first, then ported back. The version of the game included in Mega Man Anniversary Collection uses the CPS-1 version of the game.

Though the gameplay is identical between versions, the audio quality is much better in the CPS-2 version due to the inclusion of QSound.

There are also a few voice clips that are only found in the CPS-2 version, such as these "Got Weapon" lines. There are two for each character.

Certain bosses, like Guts Man, are not voiced in the CPS-1 game, and some just have less dialogue (like Cut Man).
