I'm new to arcade stuff and im really getting into this, i think its super cool. Ive got a small list of questions that searching online could not answer. So ill post my questions here and if anyone knows the answer please reply to this!

San Francisco RUSH Extreme Racing
Manufacturing date: April 1997

1. The belt on the steering wheel was cooked.. im working on getting a new one. (140xl 70 teeth i believe?) but i noticed the steering has some physical vertical slop.. its not rigid in position. Is this normal?

2. The leaderboards reset to default every time i shut off the system, being used in my mancave, i dont want to leave it on 24/7 as that would likely be bad for the 1997 racing system. Is there a way to keep the leaderboards saved even after shutting off the unit?

3. The shift knob is super chewed up, feels like someone took a razer blade and put cuts on it. Is it possible to remove the black ball and replace it?

4. While the seat base and seat half of the cabinet is perfectly straight up and down, the cabinet housing leans to the left alittle bit. Not terrible but it bothers me kinda. Is there a way to make the monitor side of the cabinet stand up straight to match the seat section?

5. If i ended up securing a second SF rush arcade cabinet, how hard would it be to link the 2 for PVP racing?

6. This one is a stretch and will likely make eyes roll, but would it be physically possible to somehow link an N64 with the console version to the arcade cabinet?

I appreciate anyone that responds to this.

1. No, there shouldn't be any slop.
2. There's a battery on the board that you probably need to replace.
3. The knob is part of the shaft IIRC.
5. They're easy to link.
6. No, not really.

Thank you so much for the reply. Regarding number 1: its not the wheel itself, its the whole "steering rack" if you will. It moves up and down if i just gab the steering wheel and lift lightly and down lightly if that makes sense. Is there supposed to be a bushing or something that helps secure it?

Regarding number 2: so the leaderboard shouldnt be resetting after shutting it down? is there a diagram or write up somewhere that shows me which circuit board has the battery needing replaced?

Thanks for all your help so far you're a legend.

your cabinet probably got water damaged. I used to own 4 of these cabs. Atari used super cheap particle board and even if they never got wet if they were in a humid place the wood would get saturated and the weight of the giant plastic hood in front of the monitor would cause the wood to lean and sag. Then if the cabinet got tried out it would harden in that position.

I know this because that was the state of 3 out of my 4 cabinets.

if the side art on yours (or even the top painted surface) feels rough to the touch as opposed to a smooth laminate that's a good sign that the cabinet got soggy.

my bad... I posted the 1999 san francisco rush 2049 manual and board set and not the 1996 san francisco rush extreme one.
