Hey Folks,

I am looking for alternate replacement fans for the Naomi 1 & 2 boards.

I got replacements for the case fans, I went with Gelid Silent 6 fans.

But the CPU far are proving a little more difficult to source, anyone know of some solid replacement fans for the cpus?

Thanks Mits, will have to reach out to him if I cant find a suitable replacement.

I just bought the gelid silent 6 on ebay.

I found the exact cpu fan for the naomi 2
On a swedish webb site.

But its more difficult to find it to the naomi 1.
Why wont the naomi 2 fan work on naomi 1?
I read somewhere that naomi 2 and some late naomi 1 have the same fan.

Hi guys, I just received the gelid silent 6 fan and when I plug it in to replace the chassis fan it won't work, what do I need to do to get it to work?

Ok, sorted. Here's a picture I took IMG_20170225_122004.jpg

For the Naomi 2 cpu fans.. I went with the best (and probable most expensive).

Noctua 40x10mm premium 5 volt fan NF-A4x10 × 2 I got them from here https://www.coolerguys.com/products/noctua-40x10mm-premium-5-volt-fan-nf-a4x10

I did not have to cut or splice anything. The fan actually squeezes down into the heatsink .. like it was made for it. I did however need to pop the pins out of the connectors and make the wires correspond with the pin out of the mother board. I am also going to need to get longer screws with a larger head (or washers). I did find for now I can put the screws back in their original hole and thread them in and the fan will match up to the holes and wont move side to side.

In the end I ended up popping the pins out again and popping them into the original case fan connectors. The Noctua pins are slightly smaller but still are snug enough once you connect it to the motherboard.

I too also went with the Gelid Silent6 Case Fan 60x60x15mm Fan with 3 pin connector for the case fan from https://www.coolerguys.com/products...0x60x15mm-fan-with-3-pin-connector-fn-sx06-38

I found the cable was not long enough for the way I wanted to route it so I stole one of the extenders that came with the Noctua 40mm fans and used it on this fan. The only thing I had to do was pop some of the connectors pins out and also make them match the pin out.

I am still getting a little rattle from the case fan assembly and I am thinking about modifying it. I bought a 60mm fan vibration dampening mount ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/330853804222?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT ) and I think I can remove the pegs, and drill holes to mount the fan directly to the vent piece. Then I need to cut out the holding brackets in the case itself as they would no long be needed.

Then finally I have some of the thinner Dynamat and I am going to strategically place it some spots inside the case. The inside of the case seems to resonate any noise it produces. Need to be careful not to impede airflow or get in the way of the components.

I’m wondering how the dampening turned out? I’ll likely be replacing fans on my Naomi 2 here soon so if anyone else wants to share what they used and any tips or whatever I want to hear it.

Just wanted to say thanks to @Philbee90 & @Dreygor - I copied your setups exactly and while the Noctua were bloody expensive they are whisper quite and I am not getting any rattle from the case assembly - so very happy with the results and super quiet Naomi 2

I ended up not needing to use dampening. I took some heat shrink and wrapped it around the poles on the bigger fan mounting plate and that got rid off all of the rattle.

don't know if this fits here, but it's about getting your naomi system as silent as possible after all :D

i got all the fans for my naomi 2, but realized that the sun psu is noisy as hell.

Is it possible to replace that fan for a more silent one as well?

I replaced the sun fan for a silent one. It sounded like a freaking jet engine, now its a whisper. I used this article from @twistedsymphony for reference on replacing psu caps and fans. You rock Twist.

I had all the parts lying around for some time but i finally got around to it Project "Shut up Naomi" was a huge success!
for my Naomi 2 I used 2 Noctua NF-A4x10 5V (as already told i switched the black and red wire on the connector).
I saw that there was already a Gelid built into the naomi when i bought it, but i found it rather noisy - i took this Sunon Fan 60x60x15mm HA60151V4-999 DC 12V 2500 U/min 15dBA instead and it's much quieter than before (but perhaps the Gelid was already damaged...)

Since my SUN PSU sits directly next to my naomi on a wooden board i had to silence it as well - here i took a Noctua NF-A8 ULN - i had to attach a different connector and remove the yellow wire.

It's scary how silent this setup is now...

EDIT i tried to embed the YT video directly but i'm too dumb :/

I got around to replacing Naomi 1 fans today, case fan:

https://www.amazon.com/Gelid-Solutions-Silent-Computer-Case/dp/B008S1HNPS

cpu fan

https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Cooling-Bearing-NF-A4X10-FLX-5V/dp/B00NEMGCIA

Both had to be repinned. I used the old connector like casselfornia for the case fan. I made my own 3 pin connector for the cpu fan. For the cpu fan the existing screws are not long enough to reuse on the new fan, but I found it I screwed those back in and put the noctua fan there they helped keep it in place along with the heatsink. I guess it would be good if someone determined the thread and length needed to properly replace the screws, and it would take two small washers, but it felt like it was staying in there pretty good to me so I don’t know if I’ll bother. The screws are super thin so not sure what type they are.

Anyway the thing is very quiet now to where I don’t really notice it. Definitely an upgrade I found worthwhile.
