I bought a loose VF2 board and this harness. I also bought a Model 2a Filter Board. I want to put this in an Astro City 2. I am a bit confused by those black connectors though.

Would those connect to an external power supply like a Sun Power Supply or does VF2 get powered by the jamma edge? I have a spare Sun PSU if needed.

I also read that you cant run VF2 without the cage because it needs to be grounded? Is that true? Thank you.

Black connectors connect to a PSU, or possibly a Blast City IO.

There's no wiring for power on the jamma edge connector.

You can definitely run these boards without the cage.

I wonder if I can use the SUN PSU to VF3 power adapter I got from Lemony. Yeah i was starting to think that was a VF2 harness for a Blast City or something.

I haven't bought it yet, but I would assume it's what I/you would need in order to get things running. I'm unsure about sound, but assuming the blast city has an amp built-in (I think Astros have them too) I'm sure it will work.

I bought an rca adapter for model 2a from the same seller to run to an external amplifier for now for stereo sound.

I just didn’t wanna plunk down the cost of the harness if possible. I may need to if I can’t adapt the Sun PSU to the black ends of the cable.
