Hey there, a while back our arcade acquired a Wangan Midnight Export cabinet from a warehouse lot and we've been battling to keep the poor thing running ever since. Originally only the left side would successfully boot up, after some troubleshooting we were able to determine that the main board on the 246 Driving cage was bad. We took a 246A off a Vampire Night also from the same lot and the right side has been working with it ever since, not ideal since it lacks the connector for force feedback to work (J5 on the Driving main board pic) but it's the only other model that can take the 64MB RAM module and Rev B/C do not boot the game.

More recently we were offered another $500 246 Driving cage which did work prior to shipping but was completely dead once it arrived at the arcade, also narrowed down to the main board. We've noticed the two dead systems are able to initialize but fails to load from disc, we have gone through 12(!) other disc drives that work on the working boards to no avail. We took a stab at replacing the 6 buffer chips near the IDE connector in case those were at fault but no changes. If anyone else has any experiences with repairing these main boards I'd appreciate any advice with more tests or components to look at.

Your thread was one of the very first resources we read about troubleshooting the system, we were able to test with the other working unit that all of the other components asides from the main board (PS2 motherboard, memory card ribbon cable, RAM card, dongles etc) are in working condition. If there are any diagnostic tools we could run on the system that would probably help tons in figuring out what's up with it
