Hello!
I don't like to talk about myself, so please forgive me if this sounds like poorly considered word salad.
I've been in the scene for a long time. I ran a game store in Canada called Game Station X, from 1996 until 2000, when I moved to Japan and scoured every Hard Off and independent shop in Saitama for five solid years. After that I moved to Australia in 2005, with half a shipping container full of games. Which I then lost in the 2011 floods. The irony of wanting a house in which to finally unpack all my games, only to lose them and actually buy a house with the insurance money from losing most of my games, is not lost on me.
I am a photographer by trade, I shoot athletes almost exclusively. It's kept me busy for a long time, and helped me find a new focus after losing my games effectively kicked me out of the retro game scene (and so-called gamers made the modern game scene wholly uninteresting). I sold most of what was left of my game collection to finance other silly, but expensive, pursuits. I love to ride my mountain bike and photography gear ain't cheap. ^__^
I had an Astro City and a few other great arcade cabs back in Canada, which I sold before moving to Japan. I recently bought a Naomi Universal and I've been slowly rediscovering my love for the good old days. I picked up a System16 multi from @Mitsurugi-w, and I love it. I love shooters more than most other genres, but I don't like the danmaku stuff. I've still got stacks of weird stuff, like Samsung Saturns, a Vistar TG16 unit, and a cute li'l Hello Kitty Dreamcast with a GDEMU. I love PC Engine and Saturn. My favourite PC pad is a Hori Edge 301. I love Semitsu sticks, and have a surprising number of new and old mechs which I always tinker with.
I was NeoGeoMan until the Neo scene made me seem like an asshole, I was Neo until the Matrix ruined that for me, and I've been NFG since then.
