Netbooting a Chihiro Type1 (I think) to CTHR ONLY

Morning all.

I'm working on a Crazy Taxi High Roller that has a bad GDROM drive. Rather than messing with the drive I thought that I should just set this thing up to Netboot and run CTHR only on it.

The NetDIMM had 3.03 on it so I updated it to 4.01. After doing so I can now load CTHR from the Pi and the game will come up and run, for a few minutes then it crashes to Error 33, gateway not found. Seems to be NetBoot related. :(

I thought that because I'm not interested in running more than one game that I could continue to use the factory security key. Is that not the case? FWIW, it does the same thing with the 2 Zero keys I have as well but I will admit that the keys are for Naomi/Naomi2 and not specifically for the Chihiro Type1.

Do you have any thoughts here other than getting the right zero key??

I might try going to 4.02 and getting a SCSI to CF adapter for the game.
 
You need a zerokey for wipi-netbooter roms afaik, and you need a chihiro zerokey specificly.
 
FWIW, I'm no longer getting the Error 33 message. I properly programmed 2 zero keys (one for Naomi and one for Chihiro).

Now that the E33 error is gone I have a new problem. The attract mode game play video is a blank screen for most of it. lol

I'd still like to do the CF method down the road.
 
Correct.
The image is the issue. Cf won’t change a thing.

If you can rip your gdrom and netboot the image, you could keep your key and kept the attract mode.
 
I tried to figure out how to rip the original disc and got no where fast. I don't know that I have a drive capable of ripping it tbh.

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably buy one of the drives on the approved list of rippers and try one of them.
