Finally got my Naomi white whale today.. Akatsuki Blitzkampf AA!...but it seems to be DOA.

When booting the Naomi, I get Error 01 with and without the cart.
Did a ram test on the Mobo and it passes, but the game itself is never detected.
Using a rev H (japan) bios Mobo that came with the cart itself.

Anyone know what direction I should go in to further fix/test the cart?

I will try on another Naomi with a multibios soon, but I'm not sure if the Mobo is the problem as it seems like it's the cart.

Check your settings. It might require a certain setting to actually start working, like setting the cabinet to 2-player or a certain coin chute config.

EDIT: I'm stupid. I didn't see where it was never detected. Check to make sure there aren't any bent pins anywhere on the cart or mobo.

Should have said this in the initial post, but I've cleaned and checked pins and don't notice anything out of the ordinary (it wasn't that dirty either)

The game is also a 1v1 fighter, so doesn't require any special setup as far as I know

I've seen some fighters absolutely freak the hell out if the cabinet is set to 3 or 4 players, for example. But if it's not showing in the test menu at all, that's something completely different. Are you sure it's securely seated to the board?

Yeah, I put it in as firmly as possible, no budging whatsoever.

This arrived from China today after being shipped in March, so I'm assuming it got shook a bit during its travel but I'm just confused on why I can't get anything from the cart.

Updated main post with imgur post of pics

Strange. I don't see anything obviously wrong, except for that empty socket on the cart. That looks kinda suspect to me.

EDIT: Just checked other images of the cart on Google. That empty socket is supposed to be empty. I'm at a complete loss. Do you have any other carts you can test the system with?

Sadly the other Naomi board and cart I have is in a cab with the USA bios at a friends.

I'll go ahead and test the cart with that board and a board with multi bios installed when I get the chance, but I was hoping I'd find some kinda solution before then X/

hmm, I'm going from HAS -> Capcom I/O -> Naomi and was the most I tried was 5.1 volts (read on the HAS)

I'll try to crank it up more but I was scared to damage something (or damage something even more) by going too far. I'll try a bit more

tried as high as 5.16 volts read on the HAS and still getting the error, so at least that is ruled out.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'll try the chips soon, and try other mobos when I get the chance
I'll update this post when I do

*Edit*
Checked both chips, both were firmly seated in.
I'll try reseating when I get the chance.

So so I've tried the cart with two different motherboards, one with a multibios, and sadly the error persists.

I'm at a loss because I'm not sure what exactly could brick the cart, as the cart itself looks completely fine and identical to pictures online.

If anyone with knowledge on Naomi hardware and carts wants to take a look at it, please let me know and I can pay for the services if fixed.
As I said this is the holy grail of Naomi for me so I would love to get this cart up and running.
Thanks!

I was powering it with a suzo happ psu on my supergun setup and a sun psu in a jvs cabinet setup. Both same error but did fine with other Naomi carts.

yes but since there is no cart detected all that comes back is what's pictured below:
(Not my picture but same exact thing)

I think the card is dead (buffer burned out) try a other game card. I know some later games need the latest revision bios as it also will give an error 01 . But most of the time the card fails.

sorry I'm unfamiliar with what the card and buffer is. (Like a Naomi Flashcard? I thought those were used for Gd-Rom and netdimm stuff)

Are you saying to take the card from one Naomi card and putting it into this cart?
Can you show me what you're talking about, I'm a bit confused

(Unless you mean cart by saying card?)
