Naomi 2 menu question

Hi there, I’m setting up my first JVS system and I have the Naomi 2 booting with video and sound. No game or DIMM is installed at the moment.

The service/test button isn’t bringing up the menu. Is that expected with no game connected? If it should work I’ll go on to checking the connection to the IO board next.

With no cart/dimm installed I don't believe you can access the service menu.
Even tho in theory you should be able to set cab specific options (coin counters, monitor orientation etc) you can't that I'm aware of.

Okay, I have gotten to the point of loading a game with my NetBoot setup, but still can’t access the test menu. I’m currently staring at a screen that says. “Game assignments are incorrect. Set correctly in system assignments of test mode.”

I assume this means I have a problem between the test mode button and my motherboard (button->wire->IO board->USB cable->Naomi2).

The hunt continues.

There are test and service buttons on the Naomi motherboard that you can use. Top-left corner, next to the JVS port.

Thanks for the help everybody. The test / service buttons on the back of the unit did the trick and I can now launch the game. It appears my IO board is dead/unpowered.

I have this https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/File:Sega_io_837-13551.jpg sega IO board and the LED (which is assume indicates power) is unlit.

Diagnosis continues.

You just have to wire up +5V and GND to CN7 to power the IO.

Pinout is

01 +5v
02 +5v
03 GND
04 GND

There's a header on the Naomi that you can use for this, top-right corner CN12. I couldn't find the pinout for that with a quick Google search, so check with a multimeter.

I’m currently using that header to power my netboot loader . I know exactly where it is.

I found that my cabling was all there, but that the connector to the power supply had just been unplugged. Everything is up and running now.
