MSX cart w/out sound issue

So I got an MSX2+ recently, and a copy of Dragon Slayer Jr. It boots up and I get no sound.

I have tried my cart on another MSX and I still have no sound.

Unfortunately it's the only cart game I have between the two systems, and I'm unsure whether it's the MSX's or the cart (leaning towards the cart for sure). Are carts known to run into issues like that?

I know this sounds pretty obvious but you didn't mention it. Have you tried cleaning the pins on the cart or popping it open and seeing if anything looks fishy on the circuit traces or components?

Gonna sound really dumb, but it was the junky RCA cables that came with the MSX...
