Hey all, I want to see if people out there are interested in a custom made enclosure akin to Japanese superguns (Sigma, Pana, etc.) I have access to a laser cutter, press brake machine and plenty of hand tools. Plenty of steel of varying thickness and types (mild, stainless, zinc coated) to work with.

My goal is to fit something like a HAS/minigun inside. Not sure if this has been done before, but I would like to try to develop a prototype while brainstorming some ideas from this thread.

I would love to get some.

Ps: where are you in Canada? ... and would you consider doing something, ahem, bigger?

I'm not saying don't do it, but I will say, the days of sitting RIGHT beside your best friend, or arcade enemy, for some two player action is likely behind most people of our age. One, I'm FAT (much fatter than I was as a teen), and two, if I'm doing that, it's at a real machine.

For an enclosure like this, it has to be player one with the SG, and player two plugged into P1.

Just my $.02.

You could do it with DB15 outs for both players, but using switchable arcade panels increases versatility and probably reduces materials.

Yup, but two control panels, with DB15 out... sounds a lot like just two joysticks that can then be plugged into a SG.

I guess if you're really going for old school Japanese SG enclosures a dual player setup with switchable tops is the best way to go, but as @hursit said, probably not a lot of interest to sell.

You’re misunderstanding me- DB15 outs for people who want to use fightsticks, but as a breakout, so those who want to use the actual supergun as a fightstick can optionally too.

Completely complicated, but imo, so is having 2p connect separately on a supergun enclosure.

I notice the Sega HSS-0130 is quite expensive nowadays. The HSS-0130 is what a lot of people use as a 2 player device for console multiplayer by adding Brook UFB.

If this product was competitive in price to the Sega HSS-0130, perhaps it might be worthwhile for the same use PLUS as a supergun enclosure?

Something like this ?

I’m not interested in an integrated supergun since it’s nice to be able to mix and match with controllers, but I became enamored of the idea of an enclosure for a control panel once I learned about the HSS-0130. The HSS-0130’s shortcomings are:
  1. Some adjustment needed to fit Sega panels
  2. Interior access is difficult and time-consuming
  3. Plastic screw holes wear over time
  4. Needs holes drilled for coin/select, start, menu
  5. It’s old and yellowing
A new enclosure that addresses the above sounds awesome. I was gearing up to pay the big bucks for a HSS-0130 when @Joko3 warned about issues 1-3, then I finallly bit the bullet when an Ebay seller offered an HSS-0130 for $400.

..so you scanned it. Can you make it ?!

I just made it for fun ( for now )
It is very big part. İnjection mold will be expensive like hell 😂

I don't think there is a market for this project to save the costs.

I built something like that, like 10 years ago, before I had my cab. It's based on a PS1/PS2 Hypnosys Twin Arcade Stick I modified into a supergun and multi console controller. The shell is very similar in looks to the Virtua Stick Pro.

I cannot really change the panel on it though, but it was not the objective of the project. I was not really into changing panels back then.

If I had to start that project all over again today, I would defenitly start from one of those Pandora Box controllers

This is just a quick example, there's a shit ton of different models. But surely someone could make a very good supergun out of those.
