Installing an MVS 6 Slot to a JAMMA Harness

Hi All,

Appreciate you taking the time to read this. I am setting up a Unico NovaBlast as a Multicab. I am using a RiddledTV EZ JAMMA switcher to the Unico JAMMA harness. For my MVS board I have an Arcaniac MVS to JAMMA adapter.

What I didn’t think about was JAMMA takes buttons 1-3 without the ext kick harness which covers 4-6. With NeoGeo games being 4 buttons do I need to setup a kick from the MV6?

It really going to come down to how the NovaBlast's jamma harness is wired. While the JAMMA spec has 3 buttons there are a few unused pins on the connector that commonly got used for a 4th and sometimes a 5th button. I would be surprised if they weren't wired up, as that would cause a headache for all those arcade boards since they wouldn't have a dedicated kick harness on them.

I would be very careful having a 6 slot board on a jamma switcher. We talked about the 6 slot power requirements in PM, they put a heavy load on the powersupply and require cranking up the 5V rail to compensate. Having other boards using that cranked up 5V via the switcher can mean they get 5.2+V, which may end up damaging components on them.
