Hi,

Been a lurking around this forum for sometime now. It started when I got inspired by Modern Vintage Gamer to buy the IGS PGM, without realizing what is actually needed to play games on this thing. I’ve been in retro gaming for a few years now. It started off with acquiring my childhood console the Sega Megadrive. After modding it with switchless mod and new video DAC I continued dusting off my XBOX giving it a new lease of live etc… resulting now in about 10 different consoles in my collection across generatIons 3-9.

Fast forward to earlier this year when the HAS supergun became finally available, acquired 2 games and lost month had my first gaming session on the PGM. In the meantime slowly building op my collection, 2 weeks ago the 3 awesome Cave games arrived. I suck at shmups, didn’t like most of the 16 bit sega games but the CAVE bullet hell just clicks. Still suck at them tho :D. In the meantime busy acquiring some of the more harder to come by titels (DDP2, Martial Masters & the Gladiator).

When it comes to arcade my goal is to keep the collection to a minimum. Want to add a couple more games (SVG, Demon Front, Oriental legend, KoV 2 and the Killing Blade), of course a Neo Geo but this time with a 161 in 1 card.

Will probably not be the most active poster, since arcade is just a niche in my retro gaming hobby. But thanks for this great forum!

Welcome here fellow Tweaker ;)

May want to look at the Darksoft MVS multi instead, he's doing one more run of those :)

Hey Welcome!!

My journey into arcade hardware started with the HAS as well
Bought the HAS 4 off RGB on the shmup forum a few years back and that kicked off into the Neo Geo, Atomiswave, CPS-2, ZN2, SEGA ST-V, PGM and now the NAOMI [Naomi a bit more complex due to JVS]

Originally I wanted to get into the Neo Geo as it was my favorite arcade machine to play at the arcades

Once I grabbed up all the MVS games I wanted I explored even further and looked into some of my favorite games from Capcom

The best thing about the Supergun was allowing me to own and play all my favorite games I loved at the arcades when growing up

What I love a lot about arcade hardware is that its a lot like consoles. The MVS, PGM, ST-V etc all use carts
I thought this was awesome

I love enjoying this hobby with an Arcade Fight Stick and a CRT

On the topic of the PGM its a fantastic system
I was lucky that I picked up a bundle from a local seller and got almost all the heavy hitters at once
Currently I boot up Ketsui weekly and I'm absolutely loving it

Thanks haha. Was it you that warned me for the danger of arcade? Anyway I fell for it :P

Yeah looks like I was just too late, they ran out prettY quickly. I’m nr 20 or something on the waitlist. Maybe Darksoft gets convinced to do just 1 more run ;)

Thanks, there weren’t any arcades where I grew up so spend my youth playing sega mega drive (technically started on the C64). But now I’m getting older, getting back in to the old games I found that some of the arcade games are how it started. Not so long ago I played cadillacs & dinosaurs in an arcade, man what a great game.

Anyway main reason to keep my arcade collection limited is because it is expensive compared to home consoles and the HW takes up more space. But I know myself by now, wouldn’t be the first time I go a bit overboard on one of my hobbies:D. Hell initially wanted to try out the PGM with only the cheaper games, then decided to go for the cave trilogy which is still cheap and now buying 3 games for 3x the price. Anyway only 2 expensive games left, although Demon Front and especially SVG seem to be a lot rarer on cartridge

It's come full circle with me too
The older I get the more I want to revisit my youth through video games and hobbies lol

It gets pricey depending on what your hunting
It's not all that much more compared to modern game collecting either

Neo Geo MVS carts are roughly 50$ to 100$ on average
Your modern game is about 50-60$ New

You say two expensive games left but what you really mean is only two on your list for now
:D

A good alternative for a really good Arcade experience is the MisTer FPGA
Neo Geo, CPS2 and many arcade games have been developed and they perform extremely accurate to the original hardware
You can even hook it up to a CRT as well and get beautiful 240p picture

For me I enjoy arcade games either way
I do love playing on original hardware, hooking it all up putting the game in the slot turning the power on and seeing it glow on a CRT
Even playing with original arcade buttons and levers too
That's cool to me lol8)

Yeah, that was me, can't say I didn't warn ya :D

Ah dang, I just noticed. Hopefully @Darksoft will increase the batch size seeing as there is a lot of interest still.

Its not so simple to increase the number of units in a hatch once the parts have been bought. There is better price for ordering parts for 150 than for 50 more. We will see what I can do.
