Hello fellows,
While reading some jamma wiring stuff I have discovered that some grounds has not to be mixed inside the cabinet.
It seems that logic ground has to to go the power supply and earth ground has to be connected to the frame and they shouldn't get mixed.
Is that true ?
I have tested with the multimeter with my NNC cab :
- When the cab is powered off I have a continuity between frame and the buttons ground when the comuputer is connected to the JVS-PAC, or the audio RCA via sound card, or the VGA cable to the graphic card.
- When I disconnect the three connections there is no continuity anymore between the frame (earth ground) and the buttons (logic ground)
- When I power up the cabinet, even without any pc connected, even without the pcb I get again continuity between earth ground and logic ground.
- I tried to disconnected the pc power plug while it's connected to the cab, and tried to touch the frame it was quite biting me.
From there I was wondering what would happen anything in the house gets shorted to the ground, or if something is wrong on the wiring, I am still confused about ground.
I tried some search and found out there are 3 grounds : signal ground, chassis ground, and earth ground...
Is there any one who could give some good practices about that ? It could avoid some damage.
Thanks
