Hey there fellas . I'm new to the game of arcades . Purchased a maximum force that was playing blind . Opened it up and the monitor had no neck glow then I went for the plug on the chasis all wires where cut straight so I start to check around and found the jamma pix on line got it to turn on now but still a problem the degauss wire are still disconnected I'm not sure where to get the power for that . Not sure if it's direct 110 volt or is it off the switched power supply? Can any one help me out on this please . All I need to know it where to get my ac to power up the degauss coil as shown on the pin out image. All other pins are done. Thank you guys beforehand for any help

This is the full set up it's a zenith monitor 100 v with a ms9 29s chasis . With jamma wire set up a switch power supply. In line filter. the bord is a maximum force soon to be maximum force /area 51 upgrade

The demag circuit already has AC. To initiate a degauss you just need to short the pins where the two red wires go to in this pic, on connector CN902:

ms9_degauss.jpg

They're pins 3 & 5 (marked on the female connector).

Do note that depending on the revision of the chassis, the connector can also be facing the other way (so just don't assume it's bottom and middle pin).

The degauss coil around the tube is connected to connector CN9 next to CN902. So make sure that's plugged in as well.

Hi there nem: thank you for the response! So on the plugg " the male and female end" l think it's the molex style connector thats on the frame the male end goes into the female end thats locked on the frame . But There 2 blue wires that i don't have a clue where they go.they going the area that said degauss in my previous pix circled in red Can you point me in the right direction on how to power them and where to get the power from please ! Also that's what I'm getting for image on the game any clue what's wrong with that? I can hear the game but not sure what's up with the screen .

You have to connect the blue wires to a push button momentary switch.

As for the mess in your picture, your monitor is set to 24khz. Maximum Force is a standard resolution game. In your last picture there's a connector in the bottom center of the pic. It's plugged into 'HIGH'. Unplug that and push it into the header to the left of it, "LOW".

My God brother you are amazing!! It's working thank you so much !!! Has some bugs but image is there . Was backwards but I flipped one of the other cable around and it's correct now . And for the degauss push button also worked I hooked it up pressed it once and the screen did a sudden rainbow color and stopped but all looks great . Now there is a wave on the image both sides of the screen . like a vase shape. I'm guessing it's a re cap problem ? And the sound of the gun shooting gets a lil wierd it sorta distorted not to bad its like if I shoot the gun and hit target it sounds like I firing a rapid fire uzzie and it gets real loud on that part rest of the sound bite are good seems strange . But you have been a great help ! Do you have a repair shop ? And are you In California?

Thank you for all your help I'll try it when I get home . Does it have battery damage on the pcbs from the rechargeable battery? If so, it is kind of an involved repair.

No battery damage as Far as its visible at all . The boards look like new lil dusty but good almost shiny. . I checked voltages 12v +5 -5 on the power supply . If you don't mind I'll send you some pix soon .

I am. I'm slow, but I get it done.

Crosshatch of death on a 4 slot is usually a leaking NiCd battery on the bottom PCB in the stack. there are traces under it that get damaged and have to be patched/rerouted using 30ga Kynar wire. I've done a lot of those repairs over the years.

Hello there I'm jose c with the 4 slot neo geo and how can I get this boards to you. also what's your estimate on this repair ?

There's a row of pots on the side of the chassis. They can be seen in your last pic on the right. Adjust the pot marked SPC15.

I wish.
Hello there nem . I've tried the pot you recommended it didn't changed much on the image unfortunately . I also adjusted the flyback contrast and brightness I got a better crisp image now . But still the waves . Wish You can hear the distorted sound. Here are some pix. just noticed that it has a twitch to the screen like a collapse. The video I have seem to be to large of a file to post here they are only 4 sec long .

Unfortunately no I don't have other pcb . I will do a recap I can do that .thank you for the response.

I think you might have some blown transistors. But start with a recap and go from there.

Hello there I'm jose c with the 4 slot neo geo and how can I get this boards to you. also what's your estimate on this repair ?

Hard to estimate until it's on the bench. Most repairs average between 75 to 85 plus shipping (and tax if in Texas)... but the sky is the limit on some depending on how bad the damage is.

I don't publish my address or I'd be buried in randomly shipped boards. PM me and I'll give you all the info.
