I have a Crazy Taxi cartridge that works great for the most part, but the game will not save the high scores after it is powered off.

The CR2032 was dead, so I replaced it. I also replaced the super cap. Neither of these fixed the issue.

Hardware is a NAOMI 1 with a dedicated cart, not net boot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does the Naomi save any settings? Like attract sound off or free play?

That's odd. I would have assumed that scores would be saved on the same eeprom as system settings.

Can you take a picture of the rom test in the test menu?

I think Naomi doesn't save high scores afrer power down.
Never seen it happen on my N1 or N2....

That is possible, but I have seen conflicting information on that front. Some people on Reddit and Arcade Projects have indicated that it does save scores. Hard to know what is true as information is all over the place.

ROM test and RAM test attached. Looks like WangDrum is right. IC29 is the super cap I replaced.

The high score is stored in nvram that is powered by the super capacitor after the power is turned off.
If the high score is not saved even after replacing the super cap, check whether the trace is rusted due to fluid leaking from the super cap before replacing.
Breakdowns due to supercapacitor fluid leakage are common.

Thanks. I did notice some corrosion on the board and cleaned it. I'll take a second pass.

Fixed!

Thanks for the help everyone. WangDrum called it. The IC29 super capacitor I replaced was good, but the corrosion from the previous one was causing a bad connection. Scores are now saving after power cycle.
