I just saw this widescreen hack on youtube. Just wondering if the same hack can be applied on DS CPS3 Multi?

interesting but i Don't think it's possibile with cps3 hardware, maybe that video was done with an emulator?

It's absolutely possible to get it running on original hardware. It's a leftover from the 2nd Impact and just needs enabling with a rom hack. However, it's also glitchy (as can be seen in the above video).

Hey all, quick note to advise that a lot of progress has been made on this hack since the above was previously posted, latest update video:

All of the in-game graphics fixed pretty much (other than the Super Arts KO screen) so well worth a try now and would love to see this running on real hardware if someone was able to test somehow!

I ordered a ZuluSCSI and plan to install the Darksoft BIOS on my CPS3 cart. It looks like the hack is for the NoCD version, but since I only have regular SIMMs, I guess I will need to convert it for the CD version. As far as the process goes, it looks like I just need to combine the sfiii3-simm1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3 files into "10" as interleaved, put it into the S2 folder, then update the game. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

@notoriousrfp can you please provide the widescreen mod rom based on the regular version (not the No CD version) as @alamone mentioned? I am very keen to try this mod on actualy CPS3. Definitely one of my top favourite mod out there.

@GumGum I didn't create the mod, it was created by bankbank. Looks like someone already managed to get it running on actual hardware, although issues with the right hand side of the screen which are not on the emulated versions:
