Hi! New here. Title pretty much says it all. I definitely want to get it modded w/ the Darksoft mod.

I'm also interested in finding a (or 2) candy cabs, but that's not priority right now. I'd even be interested in a full candy cab setup if anyone has that going.

I'm in Austin, TX.

If you’re going to get the DS multi bios, you are really just looking for any cps3, and the requisite ram.

I’ve helped a few folks find cps3 setups, but the prices have gone up everywhere lately. What’s your target price range?

several folks sell cabs here too, in the Full Machines and Parts section. You’d be looking at shipping them but if you buy 2 you’ll be able to ship them at the same time and save that cost.

I’ve already suggested this to a friend, but it can’t hurt making a legitimate offer to the guy on eBay right now that has his listed at $10,000 buy it now. (LOL)

He’s obviously not serious with that price, but is looking for offers.

In my opinion, it’s worth every bit of $900 to $1,000.

I'll sell you mine for $10,000 and you wont even have to deal with any of that eBay stuff :P

Well, the guy on eBay changed his buy it now to $5,000. Could he actually be serious with that pricing? Lol, unreal.

Well i have a working motherboard simms and disc drive and dvd and a 3rd strike dead cart
How hard is it to fix that? If you mod the board, can't you flash the cart or put it on a SCSI drive? Are you willing to sell it and if so for how much?

I'm ok with paying $1,000. I sent the guy an email saying my price range was closer to $1,000, but I have a feeling I'm just gonna get ignored :)

Edit: Just to clarify, I meant $1,000 for the board on ebay

Sounds like a lot but honestly, break it down.

Cps3 fully populated with simm cards : $600 to $700 if you’re lucky

Plexi case: $100 to $200

Scsi2sd and SD card: $60 to $80

Shorter scsi cable : $15

Sending cart to mitsurugi for superbios: $70 to $80? I forgot what he charges

Convenience of having it all put together already: ???

Yeah, I don't agree with those prices at all.

CPS3 fully populated with simms including cart, $500 tops

Plexi case, new

https://jasenscustoms.com/products/capcom-cps3-acrylic-case $70 bucks
https://www.highflow.nl/behuizingen/cps3-acrylic-case.html?sl=en 90 euros (if you're outside the EU, it's tax free, so 75 euros)

Shorter SCSI cable, $5

If you're paying more than $700 for everything, you're just lining up the seller's pockets.

You just have to look at closed auctions on Yahoo to see that eBay is its own bubble.

I didn't realize Yahoo auctions was a thing, but I just looked and its discontinued in the states. I feel like the market might be a little different overseas for a fair comparison.

Also, does the cart being 3rd strike have any more value?

FWIW I paid $650 USD shipped from NZ to Australia for a minty complete CPS-3 setup from @quadratic including the Jasens Plexi, original cart shell and an extra 3D printed cart and new sticker all setup ready to play with the SCSI2SD good to go. I feel like that was and still is a fair price.

Anything over $700 for a full setup is really pushing it. $1000 USD is taking the piss. Until arcade folks start saying "no" the price will keep going "yes" (up).

You can use a buying proxy like buyee.jp or zenmarket to bid on YAJ. People do it all the time. I have probably 30-40 pcbs from Japan.

The cart 3rd strike has a little added value, sure, but so does the fact that 3rd strike motherboards come with a full set of ram. Other games don’t need em all.

if you want to DIY:

Here you can buy a jojo no-cd direct from tops. This is a bit of a premium price, as they are a retailer. Watch YAJ for cheaper. https://www.tops-game.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=5412

500+50 to ship, ballpark.

You’d need extra Simm ($60) and a superbios, $60, either modding that cart ($50) or getting a new one (150 I think)

Mod: CPSIII SuperBIOS Conversion Services
Buy: CPS3 Repro Carts!!

Simm: 128Mb CPS3 SIMMS!!!!!!

and a scsi2sd $100

and an sd card $20?

That's the route I took. I got a Jojo's 2 off of Tops for 27k yen a year ago. I didn't bother with the scsi2sd. A complete Darksoft set w/ full SIMMS cost me $450 all in.

YAJ isnt really much cheaper. A jojo that's labeled "junk" still sells for $400. Plus you factor in shipping and fees it's probably close to $460. Then you'll need darksoft cart and x2 128mb simms. Once you add it all up its $700+. I guess it's cheaper than that $1000 dollar listing on ebay, but I still think it's really steep for something you don't even know is gonna work when you get it.

Sometimes you'll get lucky and the junk boards will sell for a reasonable amount and actually end up working, but it's a crap shoot :(

Well.... YAJ historical prices below. Very few pass $400. Yes there are junk or problem ones recently and those fetching $200-$250 is high imo. Also confirmed operation ones sold for $300 or less.

but OP if you are nervous pay the premium and order from that Tops link.

eBay $1k is paying for convenience. Worth it to some. Too high for my taste though.
