CPS2 (battery) awareness reminder!

Just a friendly reminder to check your batteries!
Just checked my cps2 boards and several had never even been opened, luckily not a drop of acid on any of them tho. +31 years!!

They were! Almost felt a bit bad removing them tbh..

Yeah, for some reason those batteries hold the charge really well but it's a good idea to change them for a piece of mind.

With Infinikey/Openkey being available now I feel like the risk of batteries is not worth it anymore

If you want to keep working battery boards on battery it’s definitely a good idea to replace them on a schedule of maybe 3-5 years. When they do let go, it’s more often than not catastrophic

Yeah its a completly unintrusive and cheap upgrade, no reason to not do it.

Dont wait till your game suicides, do it now, when its dead is usually a sign its too far gone, nothing sucks more than finding out your expensive game has turned itself into a paperweight.

Fortunately the keys can be recovered now and you can reinstall a new battery and continue on if that’s what you want to do

I replaced the battery on my Puzz Loop 2 original board yesterday . It was still the original battery, no leaks.
