Hi,
I am new here and have a couple of CPS-1 games that have issues. I have started trying to fix one, King of Dragons but am having some issues that I can't seem to trace.
The game will start up fine, go to the title screen then when it goes to attract mode (plays the game) the screen goes blank and doesn;t appear to be any sound.
During the time on the title screen if you put a coin in then it goes to the character select and you can choose a character. However once the game starts the screen goes black again, but the music does continue to play.
I have a working Willow set and tried changing the A boards and Willow works fine on the KoD A Board and KoD shows the same fault on the Willow A board.
I therefore assume that the issue is with the KoD B or C boards. I pulled all the 27c010 Eproms and dumped them and they check out fine. However I dont have a means (at the moment, awaiting a GX-4x4 eprom programmer) to check the larger mask roms, MB834200B.
The C board previously had a damaged trace (previous owner repaired) that has been repaired and I don't see any other obvious damage.
I also tried taking the GAL/PAL (3/4 that were the same) from another board that were the same but they made no issue.
I have also reflowed the solder on the pin connecters between the boards
When I got the board the suicide battery had died so I replaced the battery with a new one and used the arcadehacker workaround to reset.
Any help or advice would be most welcome to get to the root of the problem.
I will attached a photo of the board but if people need other photos or videos of how it behaves just let me know.
