Hihi ~

I've taken off my bezel to paint it, but while I'm here, I wanted to try and clean inside of the anti-glare glass. I suspect that because the glass isn't fully sealed, over the years very fine dust and grime particles sneak their way in and cloud the corners in particular.

Once the bezel is off, is the only thing holding the glass in place the foam tape on the underside and ... what appears to be not-quite-electrical tape on the outside?

If I remove this tape (and mounting foam) to clean this, does anyone have recommendations on suitable materials to replace it with when I'm done...?

You could probably get by with just electrical tape, or the extra wide heavy duty stuff marketed as corrosion tape. The proper tape is probably acetate cloth tape assuming it has a fabric quality to it.

Cleaning the glass will only help so much if your backlight is burned/uneven and it might not be worth the hassle though.

Ahhhh, the dreaded nicotine dust behind the glass.

I've had to do this a number of times, and it's always just a little nerve racking.

I've always just used electrical tape, and I've always been surprised how well it holds once it's all taped up. If the backlight is intact, cleaning the glass makes a massive difference.

Yeah, I do want to replace the monitor eventually, but the hadouken brackets are out of stock and I've already got it apart, so I figured I'd at least check to see how much improvement could be made with just cleaning to help tide me over... worth a shot, really.

I don't think the outer tape is cloth, it seems a lot like a less gummy electrical tape. Maybe corrosion tape is The Stuff, thanks!
