I had these available at some other forums, but this specific project of mine seems right at home here amongst all the other awesome home-grown arcade goodness. :)

CaveWich now available for purchase at Heartcade.com

CaveWich CV1000 Kit
Sandwiched between two 1/4" thick pieces of transparent blue acrylic, and supported by sturdy black metal mounting hardware. The legendary Cave logo is laser-etched into the underside of the transparent top plate for a slick presentation. Countersink washers on top and reinforced rubber feet on bottom add nice finishing touches.

I find it helps to protect the board, assists with quick swapping in/out of a cab's belly, and sits well next to a supergun.

The CaveWich CV1000 kit ships un-assembled, and includes all parts needed to assemble it.

Thanks!

Nice.. Do you have a thread on another forum where you have already answered some generic question? Thought I would ask if you had a FAQ or a thread that could stand in as one. Before i bothered you with question you have already answered many times before. looks cool.

thanks.

Those are great, do they have supports/standoffs for the middle of the pcb ? So the pcbs dont flex.

Also, do you offer other color plexis? or anti static plexi?

Thanks for the support guys! It's fun to see all the different Cave boards people are using with em.

Other acrylic options - Why I chose this style of blue- It's still colorful (especially on the edges) while being transparent enough to see the engraving through it (and see the PCB peeking through). If someone wanted to snag a custom cut kit with another color/type, let me know and I can get you a quote! I was considering a really dark red for my black label boards. Or even something like pressed bamboo might be sexy...

Supports - The PCB is supported with rock solid round metal standoffs on the 4 corner PCB mounting holes, and mounted to 2 slabs of acrylic, each 1/4". The tiny Cave PCB isn't going to flex in there. :)

Gonna bump this for how amazing these cavewiches are! I purchased a few and the attention to detail is outstanding.

Quality is top notch and Cave themselves couldn't do a better job!

If you have some Cave boards do yourself a favor and grab a few!

Thx Reclaimer for the amazing work on those 'wiches! My photo doesn't do them justice :(

Planning to assemble another soon and hopefully get a better shot ;)

Keep up the awesome work!

That looks great. I can't wait to get one.

looks great! I always wondered of the potential issues of these solutions thought... Acryl is a static magnet after all ..

Thats my concern as well, they do sell anti static or static dissipative acrylic like sheets, which I was looking to buy. Its expensive though. I am naturally prone to static schock, so I hate to add another element that would add to this.

There are literally thousands of PCB cases, electronics enclosures, consolized arcade hardware, superguns, and other devices housed in Acrylic or ABS plastic. Both of which are insulators (what can cause static build up) Tons of consolized arcade hardware uses abs or acrylic. Hell, even lots of arcade hardware comes completely surrounded by insulating plastic enclosures from the manufacturer (PGM, Naomi, F3, MVS, etc...)

However, I've yet to see any documented instances of these gadgets frying because of the plastic/acrylic case. Maybe someone's Google fu is better than mine, but right now it's relegated to "old wives tale" for me.

That being said, of course I'm aiming to protect these boards, not cause issues. One big thing to help with static risks... don't directly touch your pcb all the time! This enclosure should help with that. And if you are really worried about it being ultra dry and static-y where you live, just don't use it. Really at that point you should be wearing anti-static wristbands every time you touch any pcb or mobo to hook it up to a supergun or cab. :)

hey don't get me wrong, I think this product is fantastic, and I would probably buy it if I would have one of those PCBs

The static build-up of acrylic panels is real, is not phantasy. Acryl is also not ABS or "normal"plastic. You mention Neogeo cases, you are right that Neo-Geo cases do not build-up static by themselves, but they build static when rubbed against another plastic. I know that for a fact, I have got electric discharges when opening Neo-Geo carts wrapped in non-antistatic bubble wrap. It happened to me TWO times. With electrical discharge I mean the ones that made you throw the cart 3 meters away against the wall :D

The diference with Acryl is that Acryl is able to build static"by themselves" or better said because of the air circulating around it. It might not be a problem with small panel like the ones used to cover Superguns or PCBs, but it's definitely a problem with big panels. I had this issue when building a big cover, i didn't listen to my wife (she's architect, so I guess she knows better) and I had to fight with the static build up sucking up all the dust in the room. The only way to temporary fix that is by using some antistatic spray for acryl (the fact that this sprays exist, show that there's an issue)

But this (probably) is not relevant for small surfaces (not because there's no static build up (thar would be chemically not realistic) but because it's probably not significant enough.

I got one of these and it's awesome. Beautiful attention to detail. Two thumbs up and highly recommended.

this work looks awesome, i saw something similar for CPSIII, i still looking for this one

Another batch was cut and gathered into kits! PM me or visit the site if you have any questions or are interested in purchasing.
Glad to hear that people are picking these up!

You should put the link to your site in your signature along with a one sentence description of the site/ store. Maybe also post updates that only contain a few words under that. Something like:

"Check out my store!

Heartcade.com
<insert tag line/ description here>
UPDATE (09/29/16): More Cavewich kits now in stock."

This way, no matter where you post on the site, people can see it. That's just me though, you do you ;) .
