Hi all I'm new here and I've got a question I'm hoping you all can help with.
Growing up in the early 2000's my favourite fighting game was king of fighters 2003 ( I know it's an odd one to be my favourite but it was) now I'm much older I want to build an arcade cabinet for it using the standalone Jama board that was released for the game. So my problem is that I have been looking all over the internet and have been unable to find anywhere that sells a DIY cabinet kit that would allow me to mount a CRT monitor inside of it. If anyone knows where I could find something like this please let me know the kit should also be of a cabinet that is appropriate for fighting games so something like a Pacman style kit wouldn't really work. I also know I don't really want to convert a pre existing cabinet like a street fighter or other game as that would be removing a game that someone else would enjoy playing from the supply pool and I also know I don't want a neo geo cabinet with the cartridge version in it as that is far more expensive than the standalone board plus I want to be able to plaster the sides with artwork of ash crimson not be in a generic red cabinet.
If any of you can help with this it would be much appreciated.

As you are in the UK, I think you guys had your own universal JAMMA CRT cabinets (not dedicated to any particular game), from what I know by talking to UK arcade fans. I would hit up a UK arcade forum or group and find out if anyone has one for sale, I think they're pretty common and cheap as most people would rather use Japanese cabs, but it sounds perfect for your use. Anyone from the UK can chime in and say exactly what these were called? I've seen pictures of them but don't remember where.

I think this is the major forum for UK guys: http://www.ukvac.com/forum/forums.html

And these are the type of cabinets I was referring to:

Not necessarily. If you buy a working JAMMA machine, then you have two games for it and can switch them in/out when you feel like playing another game. That's normal, and not really taking away a game from someone (assuming you're going to play it). You can also sell the game that came with the cab to someone else who wants to play it.

Also, I wouldn't rule it out because in your search you're likely to find otherwise fine cabs with broken game PCB's, so again, you're not taking a game away in that case either.

Yep , a silverline is a great first cabinet , had many over the years.

There's others around more or less identical ( PAC, BAS , Leisure 2000, video wizard etc)
Should be able to pick one up for 150-250 complete.
(i sold a bunch without monitors for £75 each not too long ago and a MINT working one for 250)

If you are looking for something a bit more high end (2-300 quid range) can't go wrong with a electrocoin jamma.

My advice for any jamma cabinet is get one with a 6 button control panel and you are good to go on all games!

Listen to this man and you'll have a great start in the hobby. These type of cabs are basically the perfect pairing for that PCB in your region (as I don't think it had a dedicated cab anywhere, it was always just a bare PCB and some move strips), so your setup will be more "authentic" over something home made, and there is probably a wealth of info on them in the UK forums if you run into any problems.
