Peak voltages on the Red, Green and Blue lines should be 3.3V. It was tuned to match the Neo Geo MV1C PCB.

I can also confirm that your research is correct. The MiSTer itself will only rotate the image if you enable vga_scaler, disable direct_video and force the output resolution to 15khz in the mister.ini file: vga_scaler=1 direct_video=0 video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048 NOTE: these settings...

Repair Log: DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou PCB - No Backgrounds

This board is now fully repaired, and I did a full writeup on JAMMArcade: https://jammarcade.net/dodonpachi-daioujou-pcb-repair/ While I worked on my flash adapter PCB, the board owner was able to source a dead board to use as a parts donor. I transplanted the BIOS and background art ROMs...

Any Suggestions on Reviving A Failed SVG IGS PGM Cart?

Final update on this cart. I received the cart back from Apocalypse with the original bad GALs. I programmed fresh GALs with the new PLD files and it works fine after hours of being left on. I’m happy to call this repair a success - thank you to everyone that offered advice.

    MiSTercade V2

I beta tested Rev 2 on two MS9 monitors and didn’t notice much difference between Rev 1 and Rev 2 MiSTercades. Everyone that’s seeing a lighter or darker picture should try adjusting the RGB attenuation pots on the Rev 2 - they may just be set to a different resistance than how they’re set on...

Do some PCB chips (PALs) get too hot to the touch? Is it normal?

I've had GAL chips get burning hot when they've failed internally.

Repair Log: DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou PCB - No Backgrounds

I wonder if a repro PCB of this game would accommodate only the original mask ROMs or if they would expand the footprints to allow for flash equivalents. Although there’s certainly plenty of these boards with trace damage, that wasn’t the culprit here and a repro PCB wouldn’t have helped if it...

Repair Log: DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou PCB - No Backgrounds

I realized that I don't have a way to program Intel 28F640J5 flash chips. Back to KiCad again-this time to produce my own adapter for the FlashCat USB XPORT programmer. I'll have to solder the flash chip for programming-sockets are pretty much unobtainium for 16mm X 23.7mm in 56 pins. I really...

Repair Log: DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou PCB - No Backgrounds

Adapter board is now finalized and submitted to OSH Park for manufacturing. I cut off the edges of the PCB as close to the traces as I could to make room for the SMD caps surrounding the footprint on the DDP DOJ board. The 0.31mm distance between each pair of castellated pins was a problem for...
