[SOLVED] Wardner no Mori FRAM error

Does it play blind or really just stuck on a black screen? I imagine if text RAM was bad it could prevent the error message to show.

Irem/Nanao custom chips reference and location - M82/M84

Hi all, Some years ago Seb from Rep'Arcade mapped the Nanao custom chips for the Irem M82 hardware: https://www.rep-arcade.com/2021/05/saigo-no-nindou-irem-m72.html Now I did the same for the two different romboard types used on M84: Hope this will be useful to others in their repairs.

    About namco system 11 c431 keycus(dancing eyes)

Patching would simplify the design of the multi. On the other hand the keycus chips are easy to reproduce and then they would be no arguing if we can run original code. Pocket Racer? I'll look into it.

    About namco system 11 c431 keycus(dancing eyes)

Goal of the S11 multi is to simulate all keycus chips. For C431, if we focus on the hex to dec conversion: So for value = 0x4321 this will give: 0x4321 = 17185 case 0: 17185 => 85 case 4: 17185 => 71 case 8: 17185 => 1

APOCALYPSE Sega System 24 multi kit sale & support

OK turns out it was never an I/O board issue after all but a mistake in the rom building tool. Only the latest romboard version of the multi (flash based) supports the fix. @Mitsurugi-w can you update first post please?

    FS Gain Ground PCB

It's a convert from Scramble Spirits as per the label on the motherboard. Most S24 games share the same floppy bootloader ROMs (EPR-12186/EPR-12187), only difference is the floppy and keys in the FD1094 (that can be reprogrammed).

APOCALYPSE Sega System 24 multi kit sale & support

You can't dump it in a conventional way as it's read protected. You need to delid it. Since it's a ceramic chip it's quite easy to separate the top, then you need to cover the UVPROM part of the die with opaque nail polish, making sure to leave the security bit exposed. 20mn under UV light will...

And just to confirm, does the game fully boot with DSW2:1 OFF?

APOCALYPSE Sega System 24 multi kit sale & support

Yes please, though labels/markings match what's already in MAME. I dug a bit into MAME's sources and found there was a dipswitch for 2P/4P mode, and by default (OFF) game is 4P: So maybe by setting SW2:1 to ON game would boot on the multi?

WTB Laser Ghost Analog IO board (gun IO for Sega System 18)

I didn't know it was also used on S18 for Laser Ghost. That same board is used on S32 for the racing games, I've been working on reproducing it:

So whats next on the list of multis?

Interesting, either it's a mistake in the manual (the game was initially planned for S11 and was moved to S12 at the last minute?) or the S11 version is undumped. MAME lists it as "Not Dumped Yet (they possibly don't exist)".

So whats next on the list of multis?

@opt2not going by MAME's sources I don't see Point Blank 3 being listed for S11.

So whats next on the list of multis?

I'm thinking a solution similar to the M92 multi could work with the multi sandwitched between the bottom and CPU boards : - main CPU flashes could stay in place but not used - the KeyCus being socketed the multi board could plug into it (some KeyCuses have been reversed already) - the multi...

So whats next on the list of multis?

I don't know for System 12 nor if my findings can be generalised to all System 11 boards but on mine it's definitely a flash. Need to check datasheet, I guess we should have around 1000 writes.

So whats next on the list of multis?

You can write the main CPU flashes from the connector for the CPU board, Vpp is even generated by the board. And actually there's a way for the sound ROM, with a two step approach: - you first download a program to the CPU flashes that writes the sound flash - you write the CPU flashes with the...

So whats next on the list of multis?

The same approach than System 11 must be possible: programming the flashes from the CPU board (or rather, a multi sitting in between).
